It's a really, really, really bad idea.

You don't have to do a detailed outline and endless plot points (though it will help).  You don't even have to do that many notes.

But, Foo, for f***'s sake, don't EVER just wing it again.  I'm begging you.

5 days to go and 1 draft finished.    That's the one I want  to work on, but I mustn't because:

I'm really 'hit one, miss one' on the mood thing at the moment.

But that's only to be expected, I suppose.    It's only three months since H died.  (And that is not what I set off to say this morning).

Well, the first draft is. 72.5K and an anticlamictic ending. That's probably why it doesn't feel 'really' finished. They never are, anyhow.

It has the feeling of one that's to change radically in the rewrite. We'll see.

It has to sit patiently in the dark now until I'm ready to look at it again. Which may be some time.

Yes, I've hit target. Yay!

Never re-read more than a few words of yesterday's scribbles. If you do, you will find horrors like:

"The signs are unmistakable, majesty. I took the auspices as soon as I knew that a messenger had arrived."

I mean - WTF? Am I channnelling a rejected scriptwriter from Jason and the Argonauts, or something?

Kind of stuck today. I think I need some mood music.

Some ancient Greek sounding, heroic, dark, brooding but not make-you-suicidal music.

Any suggestions?
