okay, don't laugh. but I kind of want a fic about rooney and his dip in form after the world cup and his thoughts on leaving Man U. and the whole thing where he was voted ugliest footballer on the planet. okay. *deep breath* let me rephrase this:

rooney is attracted to ronaldo, among other footballers he's met or that might have transferred to/from man u, but goes to male prostitutes to deal with his urges, because he knows he's ugly and that nobody like that wants to have sex with him. he becomes friends with chicharito, which helps him to realize that he's kind of a dick, and that his looks are no excuse. like, him wanting to get away from man u is about him wanting to get away from being ~rooney, and if he makes money out of it, then great. props if he considers barcelona and real madrid--with ronaldo...

This is a great prompt! (Apart from the ugly part, because I'll never be able to consider him as ugly.)

I adore how much thought you've given it and how epic this could be...

God, I'd love to see it being turned into a sensible and sensitive story! Seriously, I'd even make Barcelona artwork if it was filled well.

HOO-KAY. Anon, this is really not what you asked for but I'm leaving this as a fill because it was 100% inspired by your prompt. Sorry it's not closer to your request :/

Also it's scrappy as fuck and not thought through AT ALL. And I turned a bit of a blind eye to the canon of their seasons together because it's late and I'm tired.

Nothing anyone says in this is taken from RL. I made it all up./excuses ( ... )

Because here's how it was. Wayne Rooney never thought about being the best player in the world, but he thought about playing for the best team. He wanted to lift a cup for Manchester United, and for Ferguson. He wanted to lift a cup to say, look, look what we achieved, and he wanted to do it in the knowledge that he had played his part and that no one else could have played that part for him ( ... )

And when it's over, there's nothing left. There's no partnership, there's no solo glory. He doesn't read the papers, he knows what they're saying without looking, like every paper he walks past is covered with large angry blotches of the same bitterness, the same let down hurt that he remembers from the day he left Everton. He turns to Ferguson but he knows he's too old to expect the answers to be spread out before him like they were when he was eighteen ( ... )

You have no idea how reading this made me feel.

Man, I had all of the images, memories of all of the goals, the passes between them, all those games and the celebrations, images from training, things they've said in interviews... it all came back, and it was like opening a photo-album, and squeeing or feeling sad and feeling melacholy, or one of those scrap-books, albeit one that has so many more photos, lines and memories than ever were.

I love how you write about the changes within Wayne, how time flows, how he's young and how he's too old and how things are understood or not... it's all so real.

And I love how it 'ends'.

This was beautiful. I'm not the OP, but thank you for writing it.

again i am so grateful to you for such a kind comment. i really was just relying on my overall memory of his/their time at united as opposed to looking up all the facts so it's great that it brought back memories for you too. thank you so much for taking the time to let me know your reaction.

Considering in what wonderful way you have revived it all... *sigh* it seems that just to rely on your memory was the by far better decision than to go for any facts.

I'm happy that I could once again read a story like this. It felt like all these years back, when things were different and more perfect and stories were stories.

Oh, and I owe you an artwork if you want one, haha.
(I'm good, lol x)

Any specific wishes?

I mean you can give an entire own request if you want. It doesn't have to go with your story if you'd rather want something else.

oh gosh, i mean if you could then i would love something to accompany this, something with them celebrating or around their practically telepathic partnership. but let me know if that is just not fuelling your creative urges and i will request something else instead!
