[... What? Heather? In the Pokemon Center? Again? SURELY YOU JEST. She didn't get her ass kicked by a crazy robber again or anything, did she

[he reaches off screen to pick up Ratty by the scruff of his fuzzy little purple neck, a shoe Ken's given up as a lost cause by now dangling out of his mouth.]
This one chews on anything that isn't nailed down. And plenty of stuff that is.
Oh man, one of those things? [She'd seen them around, but never caught one.]
Sounds like he could be best friends with 'Zilla.
[As if on cue, a blunt blue snout pokes onto the screen, trying to proudly show his trainer just how much glossy magazine paper had gotten caught in his teeth.]
Pretty much about getting together with friends and family. Y'give each other gifts, sing, decorate the house with sparkly shit, inevitably wind up fighting... y'know, good stuff.
[Heather's honestly not into the holidays that much anymore, although being in Johto and actually HAVING friends again has started changing that. Doesn't eliminate her capacity for snark, though.]
[HEATHER WOULD ACCEPT IT. But then, she's a pretty violent person, too. Which is part of the reason for this...]
Eheh, it was practically a wall.
[And by 'practically', she meant 'actually'.]
I'm not usually that clumsy, but...
[...But making shit up was better than telling a near stranger that she'd gone out in the middle of the night and punched a solid brick wall until her hands looked like she'd shoved them through a meatgrinder. She was lucky nothing was broken.]

[ The doors open, a burst of cold air for a moment before they close... Snake enters into the Center, before walking over to Heather and taking a seat next to her, on the other side of the Tododile. He doesn't say anything, just unzips his coat. ]
[ ACKSHUNNNN] THAT'S RIGHT, SHE NEEDS TO GIVE SNAKE HIS HUG.foolishwrenDecember 18 2010, 18:51:27 UTC
[Heather's been scarce the last couple of days-- she just... hadn't felt ready to face the rest of the world for a little while. She looks up with a shiver when the doors come open and let that rush of bitter air in, and her brows go up when she sees who it is.]
Hey, Dave! [... she says, sounding as though she totally DOESN'T have bandages all over her hands.]
[ ACKSHUNNNN] foolishwrenDecember 18 2010, 20:52:42 UTC
Heh. [She holds her hands up and makes some obligatory pinchy motions with them-- before her expression turns a little more solemn.]
Wh-- ... you did?
[She hadn't known that... and it gives her a painful little twang in her chest, thinking about Otacon. How's he doing, she wonders?]
[Her smile turns guilty.]
Seriously, Snake, don't worry about it... It was my own fault. [She's not going to deny that to him... if anything, she sort of feels like she should tell him the truth. ... Though she's not sure she wants to do it in the Pokemon Center...]
I can take care of myself, y'know...
[But she doesn't look upset. Even if she doesn't quite know how to accept it graciously, she appreciates people looking out for her. The only person who ever did that for her before was her father. ... It's a nice feeling.]
[because hello Heather, he kind of works here. :D]
[Edgeworth has already heard about Heather's injuries. Not the gory details or the sobfest that went with it (obviously), but he was rather aware of how Phoenix had used up a lot of the first aid and kept going downstairs to visit the girl in the past few days. He's also noticed how quiet she's been, almost completely missing in action.]
[Today... this week, actually, Edgeworth's job has been to be threatened into wearing a Santa outfit with his baby Growlithe, handing out tiny bags of Pokémon food as a Christmas gift to anyone who visited -- and Heather's Totodile is no exception. He just lingers a bit when he hands the little blue thing the bag, pulling the tattered magazine away from him.]
[It's no surprise that he knows about what happened-- Heather honestly wouldn't have expected any less, given that the kid was sharing a room with Phoenix. But in case he had any doubts, here she was in all her lobster-handed glory.]
Hey, Edgeworth.
[She offers up a smile.]
They got you dressing up and stuff, huh?
[Godzilla, meanwhile, SENSES THE PRESENCE OF EDIBLE THINGS. Scrambling into a sitting position, he makes grabbyhands for the bag, mouth open wide. When it's handed to him, it just... immediately goes into his mouth.]
[Distractedly, Heather reaches out to tug it back out again.]
[After Phoenix came home that night looking the way he did - grim, quiet, and brooding about something - Edgeworth hadn't pried. As it was, both of them needed to keep some secrets to themselves. Edgeworth himself had things he couldn't tell Phoenix, anyway. All he knew was that she was somehow injured.. though how or to what extent, he didn't want to make Phoenix feel gloomier than he already was by asking.
But confirming that she was healthy, minus the tired look and her bandaged hands, he grimaces at her comment, shrugging his shoulders and tugging on the fuzzy red jacket.]
It wasn't a good idea to ask Nurse Joy about dressing up Pip -- she wouldn't let me go home until I agreed to do this.

He pretty much chews on whatever the hell he wants. If I give him something, he'll eat that, and then go right back to what he was doing.
[WAT DO.]

[JACK SAW THEM. JACK IS SUSPICIOUS AND POSSIBLY WONDERING IF ANOTHER PERSON DID IT.]
Did someone hurt you? I'll go give them hell.
[Karp agrees! Even if Karp can't do anything but look stupid, still.]

Wh-- AHAHEH, don't worry, it won't be necessary.
I slammed 'em in a door.
[Multiple times. Against a wall. And there wasn't actually a door.]

In a door? Jeez, how heavy was the door and what was it made out of, razors?
[He isn't sure why she'd need so many bandages... but he'll let it slide. Maybe it really was just a heavy door.]

[ He sighs, leaning back against the chair. ]
Heather, Otacon's going to kill me when he sees those bandages. I promised I'd keep you safe.

Sounds pretty dumb to me... even if he does look pretty cute.
But jeez. I don't remember anything in the rules about dressing up as Santa.
[Of course, she hadn't worked at a Center since Cherrygrove...]
