Also, is their family a sect or something? The way they talk about inside and outside, and striking Charles from their records for seemingly nothing at all... I guess I'll have to see how this plays out. :)

Mm, Magnus is pretty cool. From the characters introduced right now, my favourite minor character is Tom the Hook. And then Mrs. Taylor, who probably would have been diagnosed for bipolarism in this day and age. Then it's a three way tie between Eichmann, his workshop sweeper, and the automaton on Seaton

I'm torn though; Tom the Hook is a great character but then there's Uncle James with his absentmindedness but full support I'm jus going to have to decide all your side characters are good and not pick a favourite! I like how they all give that splash of colour and have enough story to be real and individual without detracting from the plot and pacing.
Hope you fit in some sleep between the train and writing this for us!!!!!

I freaking love Tom the Hook. He came out of nowhere and socked me in the face, so to speak. I did so much weird Victorian boxing research for this guy, but he's worth every minute of it!
Mm, see the thing is I am collecting a lot of side characters now. Briggs wasn't supposed to be fleshed out, Amelia wasn't supposed to exist, all you were supposed to see of Mrs. Taylor was the melodograph tinkling behind her closed door. These dudes just take OVER.
And I don't want to weigh down my story with them, but at the same time I like them a lot and want to treat them nicely. W-Why can't we all just get along?!

I don't know I like the little glimpses of side characters rather than main characters living in a vacuum of sorts. You don't have to carry on adding to them you've given us enough that a mention of them now feels familiar.
I like the Lunch Magician, he has to call him that to his face?! ...plz ;)

Haha, if only I could draw something other than cartoons. I would be all over this story with cool pictures. Lunch Magician indeed.

(Oops, sorry. I forgot, you're better than that. XD)
The amazing magician of lunchtime forgot his lunch, it seems. (So THAT'S why the soup's so good! Magical soup!)
XD No problems that I could see, if you're still looking.

To continue this thread of things we hate from our conversation earlier, that IS one of the things I hate. Suddenly gay people will be SURROUNDED by other friendly openly gay people. This is NOT how it works!
Half the reason we're probably all insecure is because we have no freaking role models (my pop culture ones are now Stephen Fry and Neil Patrick Harris. Inorite?)

Of course, at least in a town like mine, no one would have been 'out' anyway. Most people, myself included, waited till after high school after we were far far away at college
