Yeah, I've noticed everyone talking about SPN right after the episode airs, but no one talks about CSI anymore. :-(

You're so right about Nick's cop sensibilities. I can see how that would be one reason why he and Brass get along so well. TOYS OMG. ::FLAILS TOO::

And YES, I'm so pleased with all the Gil and Catherine moments and that Lindsey wasn't a brat to her mom and Catherine wasn't overly harsh--just motherly.

Is Greg looking a little thin this season? Maybe it's just that he hasn't been lit well thus far and that he's supposed to be in mourning, but he's been so sober and (to me) just not as healthy-looking.

CSI fans - a dying breed. :(

I think I've rambled at length about it somewhere before, but I definitely think any past experience as a cop endeared Nick to Jim early on and made it easier for them to relate. It was pretty clear that Jim favored Nick when the show first started, just like Warrick was Gil's golden student. I'm sure most of it had to do with just the kind of guy Nick is, but I think the cop background would have helped, and in turn I think it might be one reason Nick never clashed with Jim the way nearly all the other CSI's have at some point or another. He gets Jim's job.

I really do love Gil and Catherine.

And that's a good point, about Greg. Maybe that contributed to making that scene feel strange to me. I may have to look closer when I watch again.

Well obviously I'm gonna say: doooo iiiit.

Most of the fandom wouldn't agree with me (hence my mention that I'm in the extreme minority), but I think the writers have been doing a fabulous job this season of writing for the characters. It feels a lot more like the early seasons to me -- all the little character details, and casual interactions and cute little side scenes between the important case stuff. And I'm loving what they're doing with Nick, not to mention how much Nick/Jim stuff we've been getting.

I am very sensitive to the fact Nick_Discussion may have driven away several fans like you who still largely love the show and aren't hanging onto crazy expectations.

Nah see, that sounds too much like placing blame, when there's honestly no blame to be had in this sort of deal. I don't hold it against anyone for feeling differently about the show than I do. I may wish there were more people with feelings similar to my own so that I could enjoy the same kind of discussion, but I don't begrudge anyone how they feel, and I don't expect anyone to stop talking about what they like just because it's not something I want to talk about. I think what I came to realize was that I was looking to get something different out of the show, and the character, that's all.

I always appreciate a Nick chase scene because George running is just awesomely beautifulHave you noticed that they've started taking much more advantage of George's fitness and his status as the most athletic of the cast, than they ever did when he was younger and arguably even ( ... )

Yes, I agree about them getting George running. He had at least three running scenes in the short season 8, so it seems very intentional. He's also the one who most often goes up in the cherry picker when one is called for. George is obviously an "action man" and the camera loves him for it (as do I!)

We still need fans like you (and ic789) who just love the show for itself. You've pointed out so many great things that I noticed but didn't fully appreciate about the episode.

It's a shame that so many fans have left the active fandom. I miss the huge discussion threads that used to be around on the day after the show because everyone pointed out things they loved and not just criticized.

So thanks for reminding me of where the show and Nick are still great.

I think the episodes this season have been better than last season. I enjoyed last night's episode. And I noticed Nick's accent was thicker. Very cute.

I love Riley. I think she brings something fresh to the show. I think she catches everyone else off guard... but not in a bad way. Whens he told Catherine well we're never goign to talk then I died laughing.

There is something really off about Greg. He's not fun loveable greg. He's cardboard Greg. It makes me sad.

Grissom and Hank make me happy.
I think his hearing might be going again. That scene with Catherine, her voice was muffled. I wonder if that will play into his reasoning to leave. Of cousre in my head, (regardless ow hat the writers write!) he's goign to take a teaching job and marry Sara :D

And I noticed Nick's accent was thicker. Very cute.

George Eads speaks with a much thicker accent than Nick; he's said before that he purposefully restrains it because Nick isn't as "country" as he is. But you can always tell when he lets it go a little, and the Texas twang comes out in full force. XD

I like Riley so far. I think they hit a little heavy on the jokes in her first episode, but last night she felt a great deal more balanced. I also like that she's a level two, not a three. Adds a little variety.

Of course, I'm over here hoping Gil and Sara never marry, but we all have our things. XD

In fact, I didn't read Gil's remark as a chastisement at all, more like Gil just sharing his concern in his usual slightly clueless fashion.

I think there was some rebuke there, but I agree it was mostly born of concern. The rebuke as I saw it was just Gil struggling with Nick's tendency to go charging in. It might not get airtime, but I can't believe Gil hasn't noticed Nick's growing fearlessness, and determination to take chances if it means catching his guy or saving someone.

Far from being angry about it, or judging Gil for it, I actually saw it as a sign of just how poorly Gil is feeling. I think his concern would have gone unvoiced in years past, but now he can't help but say something, and he sounds so tired as he does. Heartsick.

You're probably too young to have seen Remington Steele, but Stephanie Zimbalist is the only other woman I've ever seen with that kind of speed on heels.Did you ever happen to see The Pretender? Andrea Parker used to sprint after her male costar in heels so high I'd probably break my ankles just ( ... )
