Your post, and your innovative doughnut= absolutely win. And this compliment is coming from someone whose (childlike) palate doesn't interface meat+sweetness very well. But I wish I could buy a box of those beauties for my beloved.

They look yummy, even though I currently have no appetite due to being sick. I'd like to make this in the future. And when I want a doughnut, I'm a yeast girl. Never really cared for cake doughnuts.

Cake doughnut all the way. There's this little doughnut shop that has been owned by the same Vietnamese family for decades (ironically called The Great American Donut Shop - or GADS for short) and their cake doughnuts are out of this world.

I found a recipe for 55 calorie cake doughnuts that I'm going to try because I'm watching what I'm eating, and if I were to make yours, they wouldn't last a day and I'd be left with an empty plate and shame.

Ooh, I want to try GADS! I hear that the reason I'm not big on cake doughnuts might be because I've only had Dunkin. Must diversify :)

Yes, these are definitely not low-cal, unfortunately! :)

It's rated #1 for my area on UrbanSpoon :) And they have all kinds, but the old college remedy for a hangover was a trip to GADS, two cake doughnuts and a dozen glazed doughnut holes....Probably why I have to watch what I eat now!

But they look oh-so-good. Well done.
