Thanks for sharing that fetish. Oddly enough I was just at chow.com the other day
Loooking up how to make my own soda (yeast?? WTF) turns out it would be too expensive
For the one or two times a month I want a cup of soda.
After seeing this I'm gonna chill on soda for quite a while.

Sugar syrup and carbonated water. We like Monin and Torani syrups because they're made with sugar instead of HFCS. There's also a martini mix that is made with sugar. Only tried their green apple and watermelon flavors. There are also pomegranate and mojito and bloody mary and lemon drop flavors.

4 parts seltzer/tonic/carbonated water to 1 part syrup, to start. Change it until you've got your preferred ratio for soda.

It's normally called Italian soda but they also serve it with whipped cream on top. Haven't tried that.

When it's got dairy, it become French Soda.
Monin and Torani also have splenda-sweetened diet versions which are pretty good.

Interesting video. My mum makes a sort of soda during the summer. It's like elder flower tea, with lemon, to which you add a little bit of yeast. Tastes pretty good, in my opinion.
