the flavor wasn't super strong, but i used cola, not root beer. try it and let me know!

If you're worried about chemicals in cola, use a smaller brand all natural one, like Boylan's. :)

I've cooked ham in coca cola - and indeed cherry coke - which also works really well. As does ham in apple juice, or apple and cranberry juice mixed.
