and poutine is super easy to make. check your cheese deli area for mozza curds (they look like lil rough cheese balls). spread on your fries, then top with a hot brown gravy. cheat way would be to buy a brown gravy packet (the kind you mix with water and bring to a boil hehe). or in a pinch say a gravy from a nice pot roast. ;) NOMNOMNOM!
If you can't find cheese curds (which I think are sort of a Canadian thing, Québec and Eastern Canada in particular), you can finely dice up some fresh mozzarella and it tastes almost the same. And if you want to be really particular about making an "authentic" poutine, use thick-cut fries and a chicken- or mushroom-based gravy, not beef-based.
(Can you tell I am a poutine addict? By all rights, I should weigh one million pounds.)
we have cheese curds over in Alberta, so its probably just a matter of how much selection the deli has. we always use and see being used a dark gravy as compared to a lighter or creamy gravy. guess it comes down to what is your favourite hehe
The sushi looks excellent!! Good pic. $52.50 seems like it would be a bit much. Is that in dollars or AU dollar? In US dollars that $41.47, which would still make me cringe.
Poutine? I've been dying to try some. Here in Southern California I have never heard of Canadian restaurant. I think I might be doing some google searches. Is there even such a thing?
Jealous. Yes, that is Australian dollars. If you check the post on my own blog you see the rest of the boat, it was loaded, and easily fed two with a lunch box worth we couldn't eat. For Sydney pricing, it's quite good.
