Maybe you didn't cook it long enough? When making pudding, I find I have the opposite problem--it gets way too thick! I think the reason behind my problem though is that I add too much chocolate and cook it for too long.
And in return, a link to my personal favourite chocolate pudding, said to be "lite" at 200cal per serving, but actually very silky and delicious: looky here!
LOL That recipe is very similar to the microwave version. As a note, I've made this micro pudding and have poured it over pound cake while the pudding was still warm. OMG. Also, the flavor really deepens the second day (if you can wait that long
