I have to say, 9 times out of 10 I find guacamole in restaurants to be inedible. Mostly because there's nothing I find more disgusting than old avocados/guac that's obviously been sitting around for a while. Blegh. But I loooooove making it at home. Either way it doesn't matter because my fiance is a weirdo (ie he doesn't like avocados!).
I know a lot of people who put sour cream in their guac, but I don't really care for it. It makes it taste like...sour cream. Eh, I make mine without it and it tastes much better. That's me though :)

maybe i am spoiled by delicious avocados?
i always just mash up the avocados, add lime, onion, cilantro, cumin and salt. that is the way to do it!
