Ginormous Artichokes and Veat Nuggets

My boyfriend (succinct who posted about our gothy cupcakes earlier) is a vegetarian and we often times struggle to find quality produce here in Denver, CO. We are both from California, where the produce is just AMAZING year-round. So imagine our surprise when we found gorgeous ( artichokes. )

I got some of those artichokes too.

What part of Denver are you in?
Heines Market on 44th and Ward in Wheat Ridge has excellent produce from June- Thanksgiving.

The Asian Market on Federal and Alameda occasionally has great produce, kind of a crapshoot though.

The Avanza Market.. a few Denver locations also have good produce (check out the Oreo yogurt and the Oaxacan string cheese while you are there).

Don't forget the Farmers Markets.

I'm in Park Hill. I typically find the best produce at the farmer's markets and I do know the Heines Market from when I used to live in Wheat Ridge.

I just miss walking into a Safeway and finding Whole Foods quality produce for super cheap. I know it exists out here, just have to hunt for it.

AMEN on the crap produce here in the Denver metro area. I can't tell you how much I've had to throw away...disappointing, to say the least! Being from CA spoils a foodie, it really does.

I can't believe how *small* produce is here. I remember asparagus stalks the size of two of my fingers and now I'm lucky if they are a centimeter in diameter!

I've been spoiled big time, but because I'm such a foodie, I've gone out of my way to find the best food and the best grocery shopping in the city. It's helped a lot.
