I need sofritos and tres leches, por favor!

Ok, so for lunch we went to a nice Spanish tapas place known as the Sangria House today and we had some wonderfully yummy food, but the stars of the show were, of course, our dessert which was a light, melt-in-your-mouth creamy tres leches cake that I must recreate some time when I feel like I need to pack on some extra pounds and one of the tapas ( Read more... )

From your description of "refritos", I think you actually mean "sofrito".

That's exactly what I thought of when I read the post! I keep a jar of it in my fridge at times. It's a great base for everything and you can find it described here.
