Not a personal one, but my poor niece, six months after her family suffered a major house fire, put a burrito in for what she thought was the correct time of ten minutes. The package said one minute. They almost had a second fire.
I don't think she went near the microwave for at least a year.
I was about six and a half. I got the brilliant idea to make instant oatmeal in an tin measuring cup. We still have the cup, and I've never done that again.
When my brother was somewhere around 3 yrs old, I decided to buy corn kernels and pop them the traditional way... Later that week I was working on the computer, and a weird smell came from the kitchen. Turns out my bro had stuck a small tin pot and put some kernels in it hoping that the microwave would pop them for him. He was so scared, the poor thing. Popcorn is still one of his favorite "meals" though.
That one time when I was relatively younger and I realized after watching the metal bar on the chinese food container spark and engulf in flames, why people always said you shouldn't put metal in the microwave.
