Sangria!

I just finished putting a batch of Sangria to soak for a party on Saturday night. I put a bunch of fruit in also. Yet it just occurred to me that maybe the fruit will maybe get gross looking by Saturday night. I guess what I'm asking is will it? Am I going to need to replace the fruit when I serve the drink ( Read more... )

It really depends on the fruit - melons will probably get gooey, berries and pineapple I could see being okay. Apples are :|

i think you are starting this FAR too early. i don't no of a single recipe that requires you to chill any longer than overnight.

Yeah, I can only think that the fruit will rot/go soft/go brown, and I can't think how the other things will be improved by starting this so early!

so do you think that if i take it out and rinse it it will be okay to put back in on friday? or do i need to get all new fruit?

take them out and freeze them right away and they should be fine.

yup. i made sangria and put the fruit in fresh, put the leftovers in the fridge and it was already kind of gross by the next day.

Yeah,it'll be gross. Ideally you want to make Sangria a day before you need it.

well, i took the fruit out and froze it, so we'll see how it goes. the wine mixture part should be fine though, right?

what did you put in the wine mixture?

My sangria is off-tasting within about 24 hours, fruit or no fruit.
