Peas Porrige Hot

What do you get when you put 2 bags of split peas, 4 cups of water, 1 carton of vegetable stock, 1 chopped onion, 4 cloves of garlic, some fresh-ground pepper and about a cup of chopped ham into a crockpot, and let it all bubble for 8-10 hours?
This! )

I made split pea soup yesterday! I used more stock but it was still pretty thick...and delicious. I also used more ham because hamminess is good.

I love split pea soup. I have since decanted that batch into 4 2-cup containers... That's going to be about 6-7 meals!
I was raised with thick, hearty split pea soup, and it's always a challenge of love between me and my mother on making a batch that has a spoon stand up in it. I think I won this round :)
