Do you have any restrictions other than fat? (Salt, meat, spices, etc.)

Wow, you're fast! :)

The only restriction is fat. Salt and spices are fine. I was given a list of foods I cannot eat, and they're mainly foods with a lot of fat in them. Avocados, nuts, chocolate, milk that isn't skimmed, butter, granola, etc. It says to limit meat to very lean cuts and 5 oz a day maximum. I don't eat much meat normally, anyway.

Salsa's a great way to liven up fat-free foods. Also, some white-trash foods are easily adaptable to fat-free. Ferinstance, you can make ghetto spanish rice by microwaving soy crumble things (replacments for ground burger) and combining them with cooked rice, catchup and onions and green peppers.

Tonight, I made some whole wheat linguine with marinara sauce and Boca soy crumbles. It was really good. I'm a big fan of soy products; I haven't checked many labels for fat content though. I should. And ketchup is my guilty pleasure so I'll definitely try the rice. Thanks!

well you mentioned artichoke hearts

one of my fave snacks/meals is taking finely diced artichoke hearts adda toush of good balsamic vinegar and smear that on a good crusty bread with layers of roasted red pepeprs on it

a great low fat salad dressing is using a mild dijon mustard with no fat yogurt and garlic...toss with your fave veggies

have you looked into fat free producst like fat free mayo? you can make a tasty tuna cake by takeing tuna, green peppers and celery and green onion, salt, pepper, egg white and panko bread crumbs and 'fry' in a non stick skillet with a bare hint of cooking spray

I will have to try the salad dressing idea. I would have never thought of that. And the tuna cake sounds good. Thanks!

eat white non-fatty fish and seafood (maybe not crab and crab butter?) but avoid makerel and salmon which are very fat and tends to give me slight discomfort with the gall... i guess fish should be really good for you or did the doc say avoid it??

soy products? i love em, okay, they are not fatfree.. but still... high protein and not so high fat.. hmmmzzz... maybe if you can't eat nuts you can still eat some seeds?? like hemp? new low fat fad i understand..

i also heard avoid apples if you have gall probs.. dunno if that is true??

cranberries and sour stuff rings a bell as maybe "cleaning the inner organs.. but i dunno if it holds true?) check out other herb-y fuzzy stuff that might have some purifying effects.. mix turmeric and black pepper.. i think i heard that is cleansing for the gall??

just some thoghts..
good luck!

I haven't had any problems with apples. My little diet sheet says any fruits and veggies are fine. Never seen hemp seeds before, and I even work in a natural foods store!

The doctor suggested tuna and other low-fat fish. Just as long as it's in moderation and baked or broiled, because the fat adds up.

(take it easy .. it is NON-THC hemp we talk here;)) the fat content i don't know.. i dunno about pumpkin seeds? maybe also too fatty??

Is there more tolerance for polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fats ( ... )

yes.. the high fibre intake is a good idea.. i think it has been showed that high fibre helps transport some of the fat out of the body without it getting taken up from the intestines.. ????

but just now i read that the food passes through the gall before it comes to the intestines.. so maybe this doesn't prevent gall probs.. only helps not get it in the bloodstream or weight gain?? guess you should check with the doc..??

sorry, turmeric and ginger.. but you should also add black pepper.. cuz research show that the stuff in black pepper has to be present for most of turmerics goodies for the gall to be effectuatedXD
