Hey, guys, it's me. Again.

Okay, so, I have this alien. He's not familiar with Earth food or food in general. He was fed through a tube, so. He's never eaten real food. But he wants to.

Question: What type of food would you want to try?

science fiction, fantasy

Fresh bread and olives. And beer. Beer is food.
No matter what he eats, though, he'll be in for some serious gastrointestinal distress.

Probably the first things he sees people eat that look interesting. A fancy decorated cake will look a lot more interesting than some potato chips. Just like a really nicely done hamburger looks a lot better than something for McDonalds. Most likely, he'd be interested in something in the "dessert" category because those usually look really interesting. Or anything with a really strong scent that's appealing.

Also um, since it'll be his first time eating he's so going to overeat and feel sick afterwards. He'll be so overwhelmed by his taste buds that he will eat until he wants to puke, probably.

He'll want to eat anything that the humans around him are enjoying and are telling him is absolutely the best. If he's in a group of desert Bedouin, he'll want to try sheep's eyeballs. If he's in Dijon, he might go for a lovely dish of snails in garlicky butter. If he's in Glasgow, a deep-fried Mars Bar. And so on.

If he's identical genetically and physically to a human, and he's eaten through a tube his whole life, I would say though he might want to start with cheeseburgers and fries and stuff, it wouldn't be a good idea (though he might not know that).

Kids who grow up eating through a tube for whatever reason usually have trouble learning to chew properly and swallow without choking, and the sensory overload sometimes upsets them at first.

Maybe he is just too enthusiastic and makes himself sick at first? If you don't want him to be sick, he should probably start with something very light, and sweet is always good, sweet is the first taste humans get used to (if they're breastfed)

Is he being cautious? Custard or jelly or something that you don't have to chew.
