Angst Part:

I realized that I only become deeply entrenched in a new fandom when I need to transfer real emotions off of something. My life has been pretty stable, so Naruto has stayed pretty much my fandom for the time despite it's being pretty much dead to me, as a lot of those emotions are now. No, you're definitely not alone in that. I do a lot of the same. And it's usually an unconscious act; often, I don't realize I'm transferring my emotions from real life onto fictional characters until I'm already madly obsessed with the fictional character in question ( ... )

But I am glad to know that I am not the only one to do this, I felt odd because shouldn't I be dealing with my actual problems rather then running from them?

I don't think you're running from your problems, necessarily. You're just trying to figure things out in your head, and everyone does that differently. For people who love fiction, that just might mean that they work things out through fiction. It can be therapeutic, especially if your problems are kind of complex and will take a lot of time to fix. If other people find that weird, that's their problem, not yours. XD
