I finally gave ylla's poetry meme a shot. You can read all my offerings here, but I figured I'd follow her example and post my Hornblower based ones (yes, I wound up doing two) over here.

( These turned out way less angsty than expected... )

I should do another-- they are quite addictive.

I can just see brave Horatio thinking that before leaping onto the fire ship!

They really are. Plus, I enjoy the challenge of paring down the fic to make it 50 words.

I can completely see Horatio's cautious nature clashing with his devotion to duty and fear of failure, especially when it comes to his own life. He probably had several thoughts flashing through his mind in the seconds before he jumped aboard.

Thank you! I'm always glad to hear that I've gotten Horatio right. I've written him so much it should be easy, but I don't want to fall into the "headcanon instead of canon" trap.

I haven't emailed you with it because I expect you have seen it but just in case you haven't = the post by his wife of Ioan's reaction to the Welsh rugby win last weekend is a pearl of great price and is everywhere on the net but also an interview he gave the next day is lovely and that is on a BBC Wales ( English language ) rugby programme called Scrum V
