Behind the Scenes

Oct 19, 2013 01:11

Well it's only taken fourteen years, but the A&E Hornblower Behind the Scenes footage has finally turned up on Youtube here. I've seen clips of this over the years but I've never seen the whole thing before and, as far as I know, it doesn't appear on any of the releases currently available in the UK. Please correct me if I'm wrong! Anyway, if you ( Read more... )

It's great isn't it? Glad you enjoyed watching it. Judging by Jamie's hair and makeup, I suspect this interview was shot while they were filming The Duchess and the Devil. He may look a bit under the weather but he speaks as intelligently as ever :)

Heh in the screen caps Bamber looks hungover. I know the look well. From, erm, research into it for writing purposes...

Thank you for the link, I have never seen this before. It's a quite pity that they haven't made the similar video for the next 4 episodes... :(

They did! I wrote a wee post about the HH2 behind the scenes footage here, with links to the clips on Youtube. I also have three short clips of an interview with Paul McGann, which seems to have been filmed at the same time. Unfortunately the quality is dreadful, but I could put them up on Youtube and post a link if you're interested. I'm not sure where they came from originally, they were on a disc that mylodon sent me, but I wonder if they came from the old A&E website.

According the ScaryFangirl's website, there was also a Behind the Scenes feature shot for HH3, but it was only included on the Japanese DVD release! So if it's still out there, I suspect you've got the best chance of finding it! :)

Interesting! As to Indy being a ship of the line... I think the comment was, "...ship or the line, psuedo ship of the line." And of course Indy as the command of Sir Edward was a cut down or razeed 64.

She was certainly built as a 64, but she was never commissioned as such, and sat on the stocks for ten years before she was finally razeed and commissioned.

I wish I'd seen the Grand Turk while she was still in the UK. She looks nothing like the historical Indefatigable, but I would still love to have seen her! I'd have to take a trip to Saint Malo to see her now :}

The narrator ruins the whole thing! He's beyond ridiculous.

I've only just realised I'd never heard Ioan speak in his Welsh accent before.

Jamie Bamber, who does actually look like he has spent four weeks in a hole in the ground

Is that his Spanish prisoner of war make-up? That would explain a lot.

Robert Lindsay is a magnificent creature. I think I've asked this before, but: How is he not in every show ever made? "Knowing how much he can do and how much joy he brings to people". I mean, he can sing and dance:

Really? No way!! That gives me the perfect excuse to share this then :)

Aye, it looks like this was shot while they were filming The Duchess and the Devil.

Robert Lindsey is indeed a national treasure and that clip is priceless! "Freedom for Tooting!"

Ah, I am a very half-hearted fangirl, you know. I rarely watch actors in their appearances as themselves!

The Taliesin song reminds me of the Light Metal song by Fry & Laurie:

Robert Lindsey is indeed a national treasure

And rightly so!

That clip is priceless! It's like hallucinating my beloved Wooster and Jeeves.
