I don't know about you, but I think that since Mr Bush has had his dodgy boy band past dredged up, it's only fair that the other officers step into the limelight. After all a good captain should lead by example and Captain Pellew was well known for never asking his men to do anything he was unwilling to do himself! So allow me to present the fine

As for Ioan - he is also a trained musician and singer
I would expect nothing less! i was trying to find a decent clip of Ioan singing Amazing Grace but sadly it doesn't seem to be on youtube.
I've not come across any Bamber musical stuff either
esmerelda_t maintains that he has said in interviews that he can't sing. Perhaps it's the single talent he lacks!
Particularly made me think of nodbear and her Archie sonnet writing.
Oh yes! Thanks for the link, I haven't heard those before. PG has a beautiful singing voice, did you see the clip from Monocled Mutineer here? *sigh*

though I did feel I needed to try and check their point by watching again
I got to thinking about EP and dancing. Certainly he recognised the value of music snd danicng for the men and nencouraged it, but himself ?
The European magazine and London Review of provides an interesting snippet in evidence.
There is a poem whose author publishes under the pseudonym "John the hermit" on the subject of retirement. It contains the lines:
and with the active foe of France
with bold Pellew to join the dance
and to these lines there is a footnote : "the author and Sir Edward were at the same time under the tuition of a dancing master at Dover"...
so somewhere on the spectrum between the frail twin thought likely to die at birth and the oversize and tough boxer of his middy years there was a dancing master ..nice to imagine a 6 or 7 year old EP being taught dancing...
