Spring challenge : ‘solve’ the mystery of the missing muster !
Having discussed this with our noble captain,
anteros_lmc who has approved the idea I am pleased to present a short challenge based on a recently discovered fact about the 'Bloody Indy.' Which is that the 1796 muster of the Indefatigable is missing .This is an unusual state of affairs for the Indy - otherwise in Pellews’ term as Captain all muster books, pay books, captain’s and master's logs are present and correct.
So what happened to the missing muster?
Did Archie steal it to write sonnets on ? Did Horatio accidentally spill coffee over it while doing trigonometry ? Did Sir Edward need to disguise his newly acquired habit of summarily executing troublesome mids? Or was it last seen propping up the table leg to keep Bracey and Bowlesy’s backgammon table from falling off?
The challenge is to write a short fic ( or other entry) perhaps over the Easter Holidays
Telling the hitherto closely guarded secret of why ADM 36 is missing that important volume.
It would be great to see Missing Muster entries in any medium = video, drawing, fic, poetry, picture captions
We need to know!
section of the first page of the 1797 muster showing Edward Pellew, commander.Actually this one looks to have been in the wars somewhat too, which of course it has, having survived the action against the Droits de l'Homme
