"Alfons is dying" this and "Alfons is dying" that... is that all anyone can think about? The answer is obvious: We drag him away from his goddamned rockets, by force if need be.

Who's with me?

People stubbornly remain steadfastedly devoted to what gifts them happiness.

[You had Alphonse's interest at the mere mention of this said-same name; but that doesn't mean you'll get anything but apathy expressed in his reply.]

Even if it will be the death of them.
Figuratively..or literally.

And that's all you can say?

But it's stupid. There's no point in doing things if they'll kill you.

...

Even if it's the only thing that grants him happiness at this point?

More things could make him happy if he just stayed alive for them.

I didn't hear you come up with any possible cures. It's not going to go away by itself, you know.

It'd be completely avoidable if we could just make him listen to reason, Ed!

That's the problem! He won't! I know Alfons...and he won't give up on his dream. It's more important to him than his own life--how are we ever going to hope to drag him away from it?

I don't know, but if we don't find a way he'll die. We'll tie him up if we have to, anything to keep him away from them!

Personally, I'm for healing what he has now, and show him another way to make rocket fuel that ISN'T toxic.

That would be useful, but is there even such a way?

I can heal him, and if he can show me his formula, I just might be able to help him in that.

Good luck with that. He's stubborn.

With so many different variations of people with that given name...

You speak as if only one of them is that unfortunate. Is he really the only struck by this?

What kind of medicine does this place have, is it something that can fix the problem once he's removed from his studies?

I don't know if any other versions of him are. I just know that the one from my world is.

The medicine here is a little better than the stuff where we're from. It should be able to help if he'd just get the hell away from those rockets.
