oh, poor Kain ;;
I can empathize with him here - I've seen pretty much the same scene and my reaction was somewhat similar, though I did not burst into tears later I was scarred for a long time and was pretty freaked about trains.

Very nicely done piece, great insight into character's psyche!

I'm sorry to hear that you had to see something like that in real life, but I'm glad to hear that I was able to handle the material respectfully. Thanks for reading and commenting! <3

It's been a very long time ago - I was only 7 then, and I am much stronger then Kain so don't worry about opening old wounds and such, it's well in the past :)

Somehow, I always though Kain is hiding some tragedy behind his gentle facade, and he does seem to be on a verge of crying way too often. Your story fits perfectly :)

I've gotta applaud you for lampshading Fuery's random crying tendency into a gut-wrenching character trait. The idea of delayed emotion is really interesting, expecially for a character in his position.

Really loved the image of his mother trying to shield him from the trauma just a second too late. How terrible for both of them. T_T

Loved it!

The great thing about fanfiction is that it gives us the opportunity to explain everything, even the most random comedy bits. And I'm happy to hear you comment on his mother--- I feel so bad for her, it's just a terrible situation and there's not really anything she can do, poor thing.

Thanks, as always, for reading and commenting! I'm glad you loved it!
