Do You Hear the People Sing?
You will if you go to a production of Les Miserables on June 25-27 (or thereabouts, we're a little mixed up on dates but that should be at least partly right). February Flutery
It has been eight months since I first started playing, and I still enjoy it and look forward to practicing. I dread the day when I dread practicing. I hope it never comes. Still Flutin'
I'm still a flutin' fool. Only problem is, I am also a renewed writing fool in pursuit of an MFA in writing. My semester system is very strange, with Fall 2008 extending from November '08 thru April '09. It's really odd, but that's the way it is. Obsessive
I take my flute everywhere except work. I have even been known to take it there, too, but only on weeks that I have struggled to find time to practice enough during non-work hours. The Danse Macabre of Dynamics
One of my books emphasizes changing dynamics. In the first and only exercise I'm working on from that book, I'm supposed to go from pianissimo to mezzoforte. Even when I try to play as softly as I can, as if I were tootling a lullabye to baby kittens, the sound just come blasting out. Hmm....much like my voice when I'm awake. Milestone
I started this weblog tonight because I retired my first flute book today. Also, tonight was my twentieth flute lesson.
I began playing with my first lesson on June 5, 2008. That night, my teacher taught me some strange term called AHM-buh-sher, the pronunciation of which could not be more obnoxiously umbutchered. Sorry, lame attempt at a pun ( Read more... )
