I think there comes a point in most everyone’s life when we all feel so helpless b/c we can’t really make everything better. We get it into our heads that all we really want is to make the people around us happy. It’s not fair for *fill in the blank with a friends name* to have to go through all of this b/c they haven’t done anything wrong. And so we search and search for anything that could possibly take away the hurt and pain. But then we realize, even if we do get a smile out of them…as soon as we turn our back, that smile is going to fade. As soon as we walk out the door, their problems will come back b/c the truth is that their problems never really left. But you, for me you’re different. When you put a smile on my face it means something. And even though it may not feel like it to you, I’m sure there are several people who would say the same thing. So don’t be discouraged. It happens to the best of us…we’re often weighed down by the realization that we can’t make everyone perpetually happy. But it doesn’t make a

Hey Joseph! It's been such a long time since I've commented. Anyways, it's great that you want to help your friends so much. A little advice though, and sorry to be a downer, but don't be too overzealous in helping your friends. Example- (and I'll use me as the subject since it's happened to me) Friend has problem, I ask what the problem is, they don't tell, I ask friend, they begrudgingly tell, I try to fix their problem, they take it the wrong way, and everyone in general hates me. Don't end up like me, it's not pretty.

Fact of life kiddies, nothing quite like it to get you down. You'll find that it's a real fucked up world out there, and it's always the good ones getting screwed. Everyone's got the friend that's going through some real bad stuff, and would give anything to take the pain away, to fix it, to do anything, just to see them smile and be happy again, but another fact of life is life is not fair. Life is not easy, and life is not fun. The sooner you realize that, the better off you will be mate, I speak from experience. But don't give up. Your friends appreciate it, it's always good to know that no matter how much you fuck up, there's always that safeguard to catch you before you drop too low.
