rules; shamelessly stolen from upupa-epops and slightly adapted.
1. every fandom/character/ship is fair game, as long as it's an AU. a short guide to AUs, for clarification; (stolen from various internet sites & adapted slightly)
AU fic = alternate universe fic.
there HAS to be canon divergence/difference of some kind. examples of AU fics;
(not claiming these are all the kinds of AU fics there could be, but I think naming some and explaining will help. of course, if you're unsure about something, please ask away.)
fix-it fics: something didn't go the way you wanted in some part of the canon? write it differently. allison argent could have lived. elena gilbert could have turned vampire in 3x11. annie edison could have left greendale in season 1. poison ivy could have kissed harley quinn (any time they share a scene, tbh).
contextual reassignment: "take the characters from a series and place them in another time, place, or situation" Gossip Girl on an alien planet. HP in Ancient Egypt. Friends in the wild west.
crossover: mix of two or more different canons. Buffy becoming a Jedi and hanging out with Obi-Wan. the Gilmore Girls moving to the Upper East Side and having fun with the Gossip Girl Characters.
