Half a decade down...

This time 5 years ago, I arrived at Sydney airport. I was jetlagged and exhausted from working the previous month in retail. It felt face-meltingly hot, which I put down to me being a wuss, until I found out that it was 44 degrees Centigrade and one of the hottest days Sydney had experienced in several years, so I was allowed to find it warm ( Read more... )

awww I can't wait to go to Brisbane next month! I've been doing a lot of reading (books and on the internet) but I'm still incredibly nervous. Anything you would recommend in Brisbane? :)

That should read "Fortitude Valley is Brissie's very gentrified red light zone and may, as the internet says, be relevant to your interests."

thanks for the information! I'm hoping I can handle the weather! It used to get extremely hot in Wisconsin in the summer so I hope that helps me cope. I've gotten a bunch of tank tops and have some capris (I'm not a shorts person!) haha. I'm hoping those will help as well.

I did plan on going to Mt Cootha and Lone Pine. the Australia Zoo scared me off a bit when I found out the price- $58! Did you think it was really worth that price? I have 3 1/2 days to do sight seeing and I know I will still have a bit of jet lag on the entire first day due to the long flight.

Thanks again for your information! It's always so helpful :)

And since you've arrived Down Under, they've had massive sandstorms, droughts, forest fires, and now "an area the size of France and Germany combined is under water."
