Author’s Note: Inspired by Dongwoon’s long hair... This was made a long time ago, and thank God now Dongwoon’s back with his usual godmale hair. Looking handsome as always, baby <3 This took me forever to finish and honestly I think it’s awful...let’s just read it for fun. I’m so sorry ;A; Unbeta-ed and please, no translations allowed!
Being the new kid at school was never easy.
You only have two choices: You have to be very popular so that they welcome you, or the other way around, being a nerd and invincible to all people-sometimes get bullied.
Kikwang wanted none.
He didn’t want to be popular, but he’s not a nerd either. A peaceful life was all he ever asked. He was tired of adapting and moving around due to his father’s job, but he never complained. Kikwang’s mother died when he was little, so his father was all that he had. They lived only the two of them and although they didn’t talk much like how a father and son were supposed to be, they were...quite okay.
When his father told him that they’re going to move away, again, Kikwang cried because he had the nicest friends at the last school. The thought of adaptating and making new friends were haunting him and he hated it. Kikwang finally agreed after his father promised that it would be the last trip for them-and he threatened if they ever have to move away again, he’s not going to come with him and would live alone.
Maybe that threat really meant something to his father.
Because when Kikwang stepped his feet in front of his new school, his jaw dropped.
This has got to be the most luxurious school his father ever afforded.
Kikwang swallowed before proceeding to the headmaster’s office, and he earned glances from his new-soon-to-be-friends. Avoiding their stares, he fished his hands to his pockets, wishing that they wouldn’t bully him just because he’s not as rich as them, or even coming up to him just because he’s new. Trying to hide the fear inside, Kikwang kept on walking and eyes fixed on the ground, ignoring everyone.
Little did he know that most of them were actually amazed by Kikwang’s beauty.
Including a certain someone.
***
The first period went painfully silent.
As soon as he entered the class, Kikwang realized that it’s boys school. He didn’t notice it because he was too busy staring at the ground when he was walking. This is the first time his father ever set him into boys school-and a luxurious one too. Maybe his father realized his sexuality...or maybe because he got bullied a lot by all those pretty, rich mean girls at his last school.
It would need days for him to adapt and make new friends because it’s not that he wasn’t friendly, but he’s just really quiet and a shy person.
Fortunately, his new friends in school were nice.
A guy named Lee Jinki was willing to share textbook on the fourth period, a guy named Yang Yoseob asked if he would hang out sometimes, and a cute guy named Kim Himchan helped him when he almost tripped at the canteen.
And they grew as close friends.
Himchan was a really nice, caring person. He was gentle, his smile was captivating, and it turned out he was one of the writers for the school magazine. Kikwang read the school magazine once in the library, and it seemed like the leader-someone named Jang Hyunseung-wanted the paper to be full of scandalous but in a truthful way instead of making up lies. This made Kikwang excited, because in his last school he also wrote a column for the school paper.
“Do you think I can join the club?”
Himchan widened his eyes. “Are you serious? Of course you can! Hyunseung-hyung would be so excited! There’s not much of us nowadays...we’re struggling to survive, so we can always use a hand... Oh, do you have your writings?”
“Ah, not right now... I usually keep it in my flashdisk but I forgot to bring it today.”
“Well, there’s always tomorrow... How about if I take you to Hyunseung-hyung first and let you have a chat? He would usually give you a writing task first before joining, but I’m sure you’ll do just fine...,” Himchan excitedly said.
It got Kikwang to smile. It’s like the gentle side of Himchan vanished for a moment whenever he’s talking about the club.
It must be passion.
“And we get to work together even off classes! Isn’t that great? Ah, there he is. Hyung!”
Himchan waved his hand excitedly at two guys who were passing by. Kikwang held his breath as he stared at the male that Himchan ran into. He was really pretty with big doe eyes and with his reddish hair, he looked like a living doll. A living mannequin.
But he wasn’t the reason Kikwang almost stopped breathing.
It was the male beside him.
The male was slender and tall, but Kikwang could see that he’s well built. He looked...flawless is what Kikwang would say. He looked perfect, and this is the first time he’s ever seen someone as handsome as him. No one could compare, even when Kikwang tried hard to remember if anyone in his old schools was this gorgeous, not a single person popped in his mind. Just...this.
This...male god.
“Kikwang-ah, this is Hyunseung-hyung.”
Himchan’s voice snapped him back to reality and forced him to divert his eyes from the gorgeous male.
Hyunseung stared at him blankly with his big, doe eyes. They stared at each other for a moment before he shrugged casually.
“If Himchan recommends you, then I shall believe in him. Usually I’m gonna have to give a mission to the people who wants to join, like I want you to write something scandalous...but this time, hmm...how about trying to knock some sense into Dongwoon that he needs a haircut?”
The three of them turned their heads to Dongwoon-and Kikwang’s heart skipped a beat knowing his name-as Hyunseung started to chuckle. Despite his handsome appearance, Hyunseung was right, his hair needed to be cut...it was long and kind of curly.
“We were talking about it when you showed up, Himchanie.”
“Don’t be joking, Hyung, we all know that Dongwoon’s gonna have to be unconscious while we drag him to the barbershop,” Himchan looked amused and tried to hide his laugh behind his palm.
Hyunseung grinned and jerked his head to Kikwang’s direction.
“So what do you say, Dongwoon-ah? Get a haircut and he gets to join. Surely you wouldn’t mind our club gets another pretty member? It might boost your work mood, too...”
Kikwang gulped quietly as Dongwoon observed him from head to toe. He had a feeling he’s not going to like what would happen...
“Sure,” Dongwoon shrugged. “Only if he’d have sex with me.”
“Awesome!!”, Hyunseung laughed and did a high five with Himchan before realizing what Dongwoon had just said. “...wait, what did you say?”
“Sleep with me,” Dongwoon said, this time more to Kikwang. “Then you get to join.”
It took him a minute to fully realized what he meant.
Kikwang gaped. He didn’t know whether to feel ashamed or humiliated or should he just kick the crap out of Dongwoon, even though they had just met. Maybe he was joking. Maybe he just wanted to test Kikwang as a new student in school. Maybe he just wanted to see his reaction.
But as he searched for any kind of doubts in the taller male’s eyes, Kikwang found none and he could only think...
Oh God.
The male was serious.
He wanted to have sex with Kikwang.
“Okay, this is awkward,” Hyunseung cleared his throat. “Dongwoon-ah, it’s not nice to make fun of someone like that.”
“Who says I’m playing?”, Dongwoon looked annoyed. “You wanted me to cut my hair, I gave you a price.”
Himchan stared at Dongwoon in horror and exchanged terrified glances between Kikwang and Dongwoon. Kikwang still looked shock, and Hyunseung was somewhere between amused and guilty. Himchan needed to say something, something that could break the tension between all of them, but Kikwang spoke first.
“I-“, Kikwang tried to talk.
The others stared at him and Dongwoon raised his brows.
“I-I can’t,” Kikwang shamefully said. “I mean-I’m not-I’m not ready-“
Dongwoon lifted up Kikwang’s chin and softly said,
“Whenever you’re ready, pretty one.”
With that said, Dongwoon smiled at him before walking away. No one said anything, they were all too stunned in their tracks, as they watched the taller male walked the opposite way.
“Oh my God,” Hyunseung finally got a hold of himself and breathed. “Someone’s going to need porn here.”
***
The next day, the news was all over the place.
Kikwang got handshakes and head pats and everything as a support. Some gave him pity stares, while the others gave him encouraging smiles. Kikwang wondered why did he get up and go to school this morning. He should’ve just stayed in bed today...and wailed...and cried of this unfortunate event.
Himchan felt really guilty.
After the incident yesterday, he kept on calling Kikwang, apologizing, saying that he didn’t mean it to turn out that way and Kikwang knew that it’s not his fault at all. It’s not Hyunseung’s fault too. In fact, it’s all that Son Dongwoon’s fault.
Kikwang felt stupid. He knew he should feel angry or rage or hate or something similar, but it’s like his feelings were mixing. They were all blending and he didn’t know what he felt. Sure, it was actually an insult to have something shoved into his face like that-a request of body contacts to be detailed-but the way Dongwoon called him ‘pretty one’ and ‘whenever you’re ready’ just kinda showed that he was willing to wait and patient and didn’t want to rush thing and Kikwang felt kind of...
...special.
Oh, how he would just pull his hair out in frustration. Because of the extra attention he got from his friends, Kikwang lost all the mood to study and had been hiding in the library all day.
“Kikwang-ah?”
Kikwang devastatingly looked up to a really worried Himchan. “Hey...”
“Are you okay? You’ve been acting really weird this whole day...”
Is he okay? Of course he’s not okay. He wanted to shout and scream and throw at everything that moves.
“Yeah, I’m fine...”
Himchan bit his lip in uncertainty before sitting down beside Kikwang. “Um... Kikwang-ah, I’m sorry.”
“That’s your thousand times today. I told you it’s okay.”
“But it was really my fault to begin with, I mean, if I didn’t-“
“Hey, let’s stop,” Kikwang cut. “It’s not about whose fault anymore. I’m just-I don’t want to think about it. I mean, I like to write, but if I have to sleep my way in to join, I guess it’s not worth it. Right?”
“But...”
“It’s okay, it’s not your fault, okay?”, Kikwang gave him a sincere smile and needed to think about other subject to talk about. Himchan still looked worried and looked down to his hands. It caught Kikwang’s eye and a good subject for distraction. “Nice ring you got there, Himchan-ah.”
Himchan instinctively touched the ring with his other hand and looked awkward. “Th-this? Yeah, it-it’s nothing. I-I got it at the winter festival.”
Kikwang was about to say something when a bunch of people came into the library. He glanced at them and noticed Himchan looked uncomfortable-or scared, and he kept on touching his ring as if to cover it so that people wouldn’t notice the shiny thing on his finger. The boys who just came into the library were tall and their styles were kind of...different. They looked like they have power or some kind and seemed arrogant.
“Who are these people?”, Kikwang muttered under his breath.
“Music club. They’re rappers. Just don’t-don’t mess with them,” Himchan whispered as a reply. “Hyunseung-hyung argued a lot with Junhyung-hyung-the leader. We journalism club and them don’t get along much.”
“Ah, isn’t this the famous Kim Himchan?”
Himchan closed his eyes in pain as he heard his name being said. “Dongwoo-ah. What do you want?”
“Is that how you greet a friend?”, Dongwoo faked a hurtful look. “And who is this beauty with you?”
“Leave him alone,” Himchan said. “If you’re looking for a fight, library’s not exactly the brightest place is it?”
“Oh, we’re not looking for a fight, we just happened to swing by and voila, there you are,” Dongwoo rolled his eyes. “Let’s just leave these dorks alone, Yongguk-ah, Minho-ah.”
He didn’t know which one was Yongguk and which one was Minho, but none of the mentioned seemed to give a damn about Kikwang and Himchan in the library and followed Dongwoo to exit the room.
Kikwang waited until those rappers went out of sight before leaning closer to Himchan. “They seem to despise us.”
“They despise all of the members. Well, since you’re going to be part of the club,” Himchan stopped for a moment and he looked awkward. “Um...you might be part of the club...might as well tell you this.”
“I’m not sure about the club part, but...okay.”
“Sorry,” Himchan bit his lip. “Well... Junhyung and Hyunseung-hyung used to date each other. They were obvious, they were lovey dovey and were in love. Until we exposed Junhyung’s cheating activity with a girl named Hara. She’s quite lovely. He swore they were just friends but I don’t know, the pictures were kind of real and Hyunseung was really angry-he’s really scary that time-and humiliated all of the rappers. And then after that, they’re kind of plotting a revenge against us, when we were having the ball they performed a song and the lyrics were all about humiliating us.”
“Wow.”
“I know. And it’s unwritten, but...members of journalism club shouldn’t date the rappers from music club or they’d be banished. Vice versa.”
“Hm... It seems like Hyunseung-hyung really take this seriously.”
“Yeah...”, Himchan trailed off and he looked sad for a moment. “Anyway...why are you here?”
Kikwang sighed. “I just need to calm myself. People have been supporting me, encouraging me, pitying me, some even gave me condoms.”
“Oh my God,” Himchan almost burst out laughing. “For real?”
“Yes. And what’s worse, Hyunseung-hyung seemed to be enjoying this the most. He came to me and waved those-those gay magazines and dvds-where did he even get those stuffs??”, Kikwang palmed his face in frustration while Himchan was still doing his best not to laugh.
“But, Kikwang-ah? Can I ask something?”
“Sure.”
“How do you feel about...Dongwoon?”
Kikwang blinked. “How do I feel about...Dongwoon?”
“Yeah, I mean...um, seriously, I don’t mean to judge you or anything,” Himchan tilted his head, trying to convey his thought thoroughly. “He didn’t say it like you’re cheap or something, but if you were offended, you could at least slapped him yesterday...”
“I am offended. But I realized it late. My brain was loading slowly.”
“Of course, because you’re shocked,” Himchan quickly said. “But for us...well, Dongwoon’s not exactly the...one night stand kind of man. He’s conservative, actually. Old fashioned. The type of guy who believes in sex after marriage.”
Kikwang frowned slightly. “Really?”
“Yeah, so when he said that yesterday...it actually meant a big question for all of us, his friends. What made him changed his mind?”
Himchan looked innocently to Kikwang and the latter frowned.
What made him changed his mind?
***
Himchan was still walking and scribbling on his note when someone roughly pulled him into an empty classroom.
It was so sudden that he couldn’t even make a sound. His note and pen fell on the floor, and he closed his eyes in fear as he could feel two strong hands grabbing his shoulders.
“Who was that with you?”
Himchan slowly cracked his eyes open and breathed in relief at the familiar voice. “Oh my God...I was so scared, you know? I thought it was someone with bad intention...”
“I’m sorry,” Yongguk apologized in guilt and checked all over Himchan’s body for any sign of scratches. “Did I hurt you?”
“No,” Himchan smiled and touched Yongguk’s cheek. “Just be more gentle next time, alright?”
“I can’t help it, we’re dating each other secretly and I’m dying for not being able to touch you in public,” Yongguk sighed and buried his head on his boyfriend’s neck, inhaling the scent. “Answer the question. Who was that in the library?”
“You don’t need to be jealous, he’s no one. Well, he’s my friend actually. His name is Lee Kikwang.”
“I’ve never seen him before.”
“That’s because he’s still new, not even one week. You should pay more attention, his class is across yours.”
“Are you sure he’s really no one?”
“He’s just a friend-hey, Dongwoon likes him. Now, who would mess with the person Dongwoon likes?”
Yongguk gave him a stare and Himchan bravely stared back.
“Trust me on this,” Himchan said. “How long have we been dating?”
“Three months and twenty days.”
“And counting. Please. Trust me like I trust you.”
Yongguk pulled Himchan closer into a hug. It was so tight that Himchan almost couldn’t breathe. “I trust you. But I can’t stand this secret relationship. I want to be by your side everytime I can.”
“I understand...but you love your music so much, and I love my writing... Just another year to go and then we’re off to college. Just be patient, alright?”
A deep sigh was all Himchan heard as a reply. They didn’t let go of each other soon, not when they’re too drowned in a liplocking session.
Himchan loves Yongguk too damn much to let him go.

The day was insanely hot and it was time for PA class.
Most of the students whined and complained why in such weather the teacher chose to practice their running instead of jumping into the pool.
Kikwang was sitting on the grass alone, because all of his classmates were on the field, running. He stared at them enviously and realized that there was another class playing soccer in the torturing heat. They were probably whined even more than his class.
“You’re not running?”
He was startled by a familiar voice and suddenly, his heart started to beat like it wanted to come off his chest. Kikwang slowly looked up to the standing male behind him, who just gave him a bottle of water. He was hesitant for a while before finally accepting the offered drink.
“No...”
Dongwoon sat beside him. “Are you sick?”
Kikwang literally stop moving, having the handsome male so close to his face. Dongwoon was sweating a lot-it seemed like he was one of the students who played soccer-and gulped his water in a record time. Kikwang could only stared at him dumbly, and his eyes widened when suddenly Dongwoon turned to him.
“Drink. In this heat, you’re going to dehydrate if you don’t drink much.”
Kikwang blushed, nodded obediently and uncapped the bottle. Failed to do so-nervous, perhaps, his heart and mind just wouldn’t cooperate-he gripped the bottle so tight and froze. Dongwoon seemed to stare at him. Or maybe it was just his imagination.
A chuckle was heard and Dongwoon took the bottle from his hand, removing the cap. Kikwang gratefully nodded before gulping the liquid as natural as possible.
“So...are you sick or something?”
“W-weak body,” Kikwang stuttered and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. “I...I can’t run.”
“Oh,” Dongwoon raised his eyebrows. “Is there any sports you’re allowed to do?”
“Um, yeah. Swimming. As long as I’m fit...”
“I see. Well, let’s swim sometimes. I know a nice place,” Dongwoon waved his hand as someone from the soccer field called his name. “Gotta go. See you around, pretty one,” he touched Kikwang’s chin caringly and smiled.
Kikwang failed to hide his blush, but fortunately Dongwoon was already running back to the field so he couldn’t have seen it.
Himchan looked at the interaction with a wide smile from afar.
***
Kikwang had been receiving a lot of gifts.
Sometimes a box of chocolates were in his locker. The other times, a bud of rose was on his desk. Various things-things that represented a feeling-would just show up in random places.
If it was normal, Kikwang would’ve felt happy.
But instead, he felt confused, and most of all, scared.
Wasn’t Dongwoon just doing all of these things to get him in bed?
Kikwang’s not that eager to join the journalism club anymore. Everytime Dongwoon passed by, and he’s still with his annoying hairstyle, people would turn to him and gave him unreadable expressions. Some pitied Dongwoon because Kikwang played hard to get-Himchan got so mad and scolded them-and some were sympathetic to Kikwang because of the stupid requirement to join the club from the younger male.
But Kikwang couldn’t hide to himself that he actually cared of the taller male, too.
Maybe it’s because no one had ever showed him that kind of affection before...
He was spacing out in the cafetaria when he realized the music club members were sitting beside his table. They were loud and laughing and they seemed to have composed a song because they’re practicing it now. Kikwang leaned his back against the chair and listened to their voices, they weren’t bad at all. In fact, they’re all talented rappers and singers.
Between them was the guy who Kikwang remembered from the library. He nodded and tapped his fingers on the table, following his friends’ rhymes. Kikwang’s eyes lingered down to his fingers and for a few second, he only stared blankly and a thought crossed his mind.
Funny. It looked like Himchan’s ring...
Kikwang was still blank for a while before jolting up in his seat.
Oh my God, that guy stole Himchan’s ring! Could it be that he hated Himchan so much? Or on a bright sunny day, he walked happily and spotted a shiny ring and just decided to claim it his?
Kikwang narrowed his eyes, at least he needed to be sure first before accusing someone stealing...
It was definitely Himchan’s. He remembered because he’s seen the ring closely before.
He got up roughly, making a loud sound and earned weird stares from the next table. Kikwang chose not to give a damn as he dashed to find his friend. If Himchan was missing his ring then at least he had the right to know who took it. After running for a few minutes he finally found Himchan, who was with Hyunseung and they looked like discussing something.
“Whoa, did a ghost chase you?”, Hyunseung asked innocently.
“Kikwang-ah? What’s wrong?”
“I-I just thought-you should know,” Kikwang said between his breath. “Your ring...it’s-“
He stopped talking as he spotted Himchan was still wearing his ring. The latter quickly covered his hand and his expression turned into something-fear.
“What ring?”, Hyunseung frowned.
Himchan went pale and shaking his head in the slightest movement possible. Please don’t...
“N-nothing,” Kikwang forced a laugh. “I-I just-it’s funny, I thought Himchan lost his ring...”
It seemed to be a bad move because Himchan even got paler and Hyunseung turned to him with the sharpest gaze Kikwang had ever seen.
“Is it someone from the music club?”, Hyunseung asked, but it was addressed to Kikwang more than to Himchan.
“Hyung, it’s-“
“Answer,” Hyunseung coldly demanded.
“I-I don’t know his name,” there was a thick of uncertainty in Kikwang’s voice.
“Let’s find out.”
“Hyung, please-“, Himchan weakly pleaded.
Hyunseung walked away from Himchan angrily and he grabbed Kikwang to follow him. When they were heading to the opposite way to the cafetaria, Dongwoo from the music club emerged with a cup of drink in his hand. Hyunseung shot him a glare but the male didn’t seem to pay attention.
That’s when Kikwang realized that the person who was walking behind Dongwoo is the same person who wears the ring.
“Hey, if it isn’t the famous Kim Himchan!”
The moment Dongwoo said that, Hyunseung turned around, as if to anticipate what would happen, but it all happened too fast. Dongwoo accidentally spilled his drink towards Himchan and the latter closed his eyes in fear. The sound of the splashing liquid could be heard, but the stickiness never came.
Himchan slowly opened his eyes and realized someone had took cover for him. His boyfriend.
“Baby,” he whispered in shock.
Yongguk’s uniform was covered in red liquid and he looked angry.
“What the fuck...” Yongguk hissed. “...do you think you’re doing?”
“What the fuck did I-what the fuck do you think you’re doing? He’s from journalism club!”
“I don’t fucking care, but you need to learn to stay the hell away from him-“
“What the fuck are you talking about, man? Are you out of your mind?”
“Stop, please,” Himchan weakly said and he looked at Yongguk with pure concern. “A-are you alright?”
“I’m fine, what about you? You’re not hurt...right?”
“No...”, Himchan looked like he’s about to cry and Yongguk caressed his cheek.
It’s like the hall was watching a drama. Everyone gawked over the fact that Yongguk and Himchan looked close and caring about each other while they knew the history, that music and journalism club never got along. Not ever since Junhyung caught cheating on Hyunseung.
Kikwang came to a realization that Yongguk didn’t steal the ring. It was the same ring. They were wearing identical rings. They’re in a relationship. It made sense now.
But the doe eyed male wasn’t pleased at all.
“Himchan,” Hyunseung’s voice was trembling with anger. “You’re discharged from the club.”
“What?”, Himchan turned to Hyunseung with eyes widened.
“Don’t you ‘what’ me, you’ve broken the rule, the most important rule and now you have to go,” Hyunseung looked irritated. “I expect your letter in the morning.”
“Oh yeah, just wait until Junhyung-hyung hears about this,” Dongwoo said mockingly. “You’re gonna get discharged too, Yongguk-ah.”
Kikwang palmed his mouth worriedly. Hyunseung stomped out in rage while Dongwoo stood there with a mock smile, and Himchan looked awful while Yongguk tried to calm him down. He wanted to approach his friend, to apologize, to wail, but he felt scared. So Kikwang just stood there in confusion, wondering what to do.
Oh God. What have I done?
***
Kikwang couldn’t sleep at all.
After the incident at school today, Himchan was shedding his tears, Kikwang actually wanted to be by his side, comforting, apologizing, but Yongguk was there all along that he knew he shouldn’t. Now that they’re relationship is exposed, Yongguk was seen near Himchan almost everywhere and everytime.
He texted an apology to Himchan and the latter replied with a smile, as if to say it’s okay and he didn’t need to worry.
But Kikwang felt so damn guilty. Hadn’t he freaked out about the ring, this wouldn’t have happened. He should’ve just kept his mouth shut and asked for a confirmation to Himchan right away, instead of confronting him in public like that-with Hyunseung’s around, too.
God, he felt so stupid...
Kikwang smacked himself as a punishment for hurting his friend everytime the guilt feeling resurfaced.
But...maybe it was a good thing.
Because Himchan looked happier.
They were still talking to each other casually at school, but now Yongguk would be near. It turned out that Himchan was the only one who got discharged from the club. Yongguk was still in the music club and sometimes Himchan would wait until he’s done practicing. Kikwang half heartedly thought that it’s not fair, how come Hyunseung got so mad while the other club leader got a really big heart and still let him stayed?
Perhaps he should talk to Hyunseung? But the leader still looked in wrath everytime the BangHim couple was mentioned. Maybe he shouldn’t...and who is he, anyway? He’s just a new student at school and if there’s anyone that should talk to the pretty male, it should be someone else.
Kikwang sighed in frustration. Lately he hadn’t been focused to school and had lack of sleep.
That day, he was walking home from school when suddenly, a luxurious car pulled over and the driver rolled down the window.
“Hey, pretty one.”
The nickname immediately made Kikwang blushed and he smiled shyly. “Hey, Dongwoon-ah.”
Dongwoon gestured him to get in the car. “Get in, I’ll take you home.”
“Eh? It’s okay, I’m just gonna walk-“
“You can think better with me driving,” Dongwoon said. “Instead of daydreaming and thinking and spacing out. And I’m just afraid you’ll fall or trip over something if you keep on walking like that.”
Kikwang blinked. He knows. How did he know? And Dongwoon got a point. When Kikwang got a lot in his mind sometimes he’d lose his way and instead of going home, he might’ve ended in somewhere else. Maybe it’s okay if he just ride along... He shrugged casually and got into the car. After fastening his seatbelts, the male beside him spoke.
“Do you like chinese food?”
“Eh? I do...but, I’m not really hungry.”
“You need to eat, you haven’t eaten anything today,” Dongwoon replied and it got Kikwang to snap his head to the younger male. How did he know (again)? As if knowing Kikwang’s questioning look, he smiled and with his free hand caressing Kikwang’s hair. “Or we can have what you want. What do you want to eat?”
“I...”, Kikwang trailed off and his heart clenched with the affection Dongwoon showed him. It reminded him of Yongguk, who showed the public boldly right now that he really cared about Himchan. The thought immediately changed his mood and he just felt bad. “Really, I’m okay, I just want to go home...”
“I will take you home,” Dongwoon stated. “After you eat.”
“Um...then I will eat at home?”
“Well then, I’ll eat with you. Just to make sure you’re really going to eat. How about that?”
“You’re not going to let go that easily, are you?”
“Then it’s a deal. Dinner at your house.”
Kikwang laughed. “What? I didn’t even invite you. You deliberately invited yourself.”
“That’s good. Keep on doing it.”
“What is?”
“Your smile,” Dongwoon said softly and stroke Kikwang’s hair caringly.
Kikwang felt his cheeks blushing and something was growing even stronger in his heart, but he still couldn’t tell what. After that, none of them said another word, and the trip to his house was silent.
***
The dinner went more than okay. Kikwang’s father was out of town and he’s not coming home that night. In the end, they just ordered chinese and sat in the living room with the TV on, but none of them paid attention to the show. They chatted, they asked questions about each other, which was nice. It got Kikwang to forget about Himchan for a while, knowing the different side of Dongwoon, feeling himself curious about the handsome male. They were sitting very close and it got Kikwang to think that Hyunseung did have a point, that he needed a haircut. But he was handsome.
So handsome, in fact, that Kikwang was afraid to be this close to him.
He kept on avoiding Dongwoon’s gaze in their conversations, that it took him a few moments to realize that the taller male had been staring. Kikwang cleared his throat and suddenly found the pattern of the rug interesting.
“So...care to tell me what’s been on your mind?”
Kikwang looked up abruptly and his eyes met Dongwoon’s. They were calming and soft like telling him everything’s gonna be okay. It’s the first time for him to feel this calm when he’s with someone. Kikwang wanted to cry, and he felt like bursting out right away.
And he unconsciously did.
“Himchan got discharged from the club because of me,” Kikwang whispered and his tears started falling. “I keep on thinking, what have I done? Himchan didn’t deserve that at all, I mean, he’s really talented and he spent all these years writing for the school magazine, and then I came along and I ruined everything. God, I am such an ass, why couldn’t I keep calm instead of-”
“Hey,” Dongwoon leaned forward and pressed his lips against Kikwang’s. It immediately shut him up and Dongwoon could feel the pretty male tensed under the touch, but he didn’t run away. Dongwoon’s lips were soft, and he smelled nice. Kikwang didn’t know when did he close his eyes, but the sensation was...overwhelming. It was comforting, after everything he’s been through.
When Dongwoon pulled away, and Kikwang consciously opened his eyes, the former smiled. “There...calm down...” He felt like it’s the right moment. The right moment to tell Kikwang everything. To tell him how he feels.
But it made Kikwang to feel even miserable. “Dongwoon-ah... I’m sorry...”
Dongwoon blinked in confusion. “Sorry for...what?”
“For not being able to have sex with you...”
The taller male went blank and his mood to confess disappeared. “What...?”
“I...I don’t want to be part of the club anymore...not without Himchan...and definitely not by having sex with you... I mean, I’m perfectly fine without any club...but I just want Himchan to be back at the club, it’s his last year and it should be something...something...memorable...”
They both fell silent, the room was only filled with Kikwang’s soft sobbing before Dongwoon finally spoke.
“Oh my God,” Dongwoon breathed. “You mean, all this time you thought I was luring you into sex?”
“Eh?”
Kikwang wanted to reply, ‘so it wasn’t?’ but hurt was plastered all across Dongwoon’s face and he didn’t know what to say.
“Gosh,” Dongwoon said in frustration and ran a hand through his hair. “I’m not that low, Hyung.”
“N-no, of course not, I was just-“
“It’s okay,” Dongwoon held up his hands as if to defense himself and stood up. “At least now I know what you think of me. Well, thank you for the meal. I’m going home. Goodnight and take care.”
“Wait,” Kikwang begged. He really didn’t want things to end up this way. “Wait, Dongwoon-ah, please-“
But Dongwoon didn’t listen anymore. He headed to the door in a haste, grabbing his jacket on the couch and left.
***
Kikwang didn’t able to sleep even more.
If at first he was confused about Himchan and what should he do to fix everything, it got him even more depressed because Dongwoon had kissed him and the male seemed serious about it, while Kikwang thought he was still in for the sex. He felt even more guilty knowing the fact. He’s even lower that he thought he was.
It’s been almost a week and Kikwang admitted that he missed Dongwoon. He missed the small attentions, the way he showed Kikwang that he cared, and that he’s sorry for thinking Dongwoon only wanted him for sex. It wasn’t entirely his fault because that was what got them close in the first place, but it’s Dongwoon’s right too to get angry.
And he couldn’t talk to Himchan.
Himchan got really busy with Yongguk. Kikwang thought he had already forgotten about his old club, but when one of the fellow journalism member interviewed the seniors about the upcoming prom, he caught Himchan stared at the scene longingly and sadness was written all over his face. Of course he couldn’t forget it that easily, writing was his life...
One day, Kikwang was grabbed by one of the music club’s member and he was brought to the journalism club. It was so sudden and the male who dragged him was big so he couldn’t fight. When Kikwang was pushed into the room, everyone else was also there-Yongguk, Himchan, Dongwoo, Hyunseung, and a few other people that Kikwang didn’t know, but he recognized the faces. And a really handsome, charming male that Kikwang believed to be the leader of the music club. He had to admit that he and Hyunseung make a really great couple.
“Good, now all the parties are here,” Dongwoon spoke and his voice snapped Kikwang back to reality. Kikwang found himself smiling at Dongwoon’s sight but the latter didn’t seem to care. Maybe he was still angry at him.
“Dongwoon-ah, what do you think you’re doing-“, Hyunseung was about to protest but he received a look from the younger male.
“U-uh, no talking, Hyung. Not yet. Until I finish. Understood?”
Dongwoon glared at Hyunseung, then at everyone in the room and they quietly nodded.
“Good. Now, for the past year, I’ve been quiet, really quiet about your quarreling. All of you. But I think, now it’s time for you guys to be a grown up and move on. Especially you, Hyung.”
Hyunseung’s eyes widened because Dongwoon immediately turned to glare at his leader. He opened his mouth and looked flabbergasted at him. “Me??”
“Yes, you. Stop punishing your member just because they’re having a relationship with the members of music club. You really can’t force who wants to be with who. Feelings can’t be helped.
“And you,” Dongwoon pointed at Junhyung and the latter looked taken aback by the sudden move. “If you really didn’t cheat with that Hara girl why didn’t you try really hard to prove it to Hyunseung-hyung, instead of making him loathing you and letting him making a disaster to both of the clubs?
“And God, you!”, Dongwoon pointed at Dongwoo whose face was still blank. “You knew all along Yongguk liked Himchan and that’s why you’ve been picking on him, because you wanted him to tell the truth. So I guess you should be happy because now it’s revealed, eh? Good job, by the way.
“And you”, he pointed at Himchan who gasped quietly and Yongguk instinctively glared at Dongwoon. “Wearing identical rings just show it obviously like you wanted the world to know. Stealing glances at him whenever others weren’t looking is not exactly helping. There’s always someone who would notice.
“And you,” Dongwoon turned to Minho. “You...hm, your boyfriend is in the dance club. You’re forgiven.
“Lastly, you.”
Kikwang didn’t dare to move as Dongwoon pointed a finger at him. He gathered his courage to stare at Dongwoon who looked so damn handsome and sparkling under the light and he thought Dongwoon would give him an accusing look, but he was wrong. The male stared at him softly.
“Lee Kikwang.”
Kikwang held his breath.
“I fell in love with you at the first sight. Ever since you stepped your feet in this school, I’ve had my eyes on you. I wanted to be with you. To have a relationship with you. To be the one who you depend on. To be the one you care the most. I did everything I could to have you, but it’s because I really want to be your boyfriend.”
Kikwang slowly brought his hand to his mouth and blushed. He couldn’t brought himself to say something and stayed quiet.
Dongwoon sighed and looked around the room.
“So that’s it from me. Now it’s all up to you. You’re all grown men. I know I’m right, and I believe you guys will make the right choice. If anyone wants to say anything to anyone else in this room, you’re given the rights to do so.”
Hyunseung, who had been gawking from Dongwoon’s long speech, slowly raised his hand.
“Yes, Hyung.”
“...dammit you look so handsome with your new hair.”
***
Everything went back to normal.
Junhyung and Hyunseung got back together, and Kikwang was right, they do look great with each other. Junhyung looked like a prince and Hyunseung’s the princess who live happily ever after.
Himchan was back at the journalism club and his relationship with Yongguk was still going strong. Everyone was happy for them.
Dongwoon had his hair cut and he looked even more gorgeous. His hair was shorter and tidy now. His bangs covered half of his face, making him like one of those anime boys. The moment Dongwoon showed up with his new hair, a lot of people shook Kikwang’s hands, congratulating him, saying that he’s the beast, finally, etc etc.
Hyunseung said that Kikwang had passed the mission and that he’s allowed to join, but Kikwang decided that he wouldn’t. He just wanted his last year to be full of studying crap and mock exams and...for the first time, he just wanted to have what Himchan have.
No, not Yongguk.
But someone special.
And when Kikwang thought of someone special, his mind just lingered to the gorgeous male.
Even though Dongwoon had cut his hair, but none of the others knew that they actually didn’t have sex. Kikwang felt shocked when he saw Dongwoon with his new hair, he thought he’s just gonna brag to them that yeah, they finally did it so to shut them up, but he didn’t.
Kikwang was looking for Himchan that afternoon when he came to the club. He opened the door only to see Dongwoon inside the room, with no one else. Kikwang was hesitant for a while and thought if he should just leave.
“Hey,” Dongwoon said as he looked up from his laptop.
“Hey,” Kikwang said back and his heart skipped a beat. “Um... I’m looking for Himchan-ah...”
“Oh, he just went out a few minutes ago. Do you want to wait?”
“Oh. Okay...”
Kikwang carefully stepped in and slowly walked to the nearest seat. He tried not to be noisy because Dongwoon seemed so serious with his work, a hand palming his forehead. Kikwang cleared his throat to let the other male know he’s talking.
“I, uh... I should probably go back later...”
“It’s okay, you can stay.”
Dongwoon said it so casually that it kind of hurt Kikwang. But he tried not to think of anything bad and closed his mouth back.
“Aaahh, short hair is good,” Dongwoon suddenly blurt out and ruffled his own hair with both hands. “But I think my bangs is too long. Think I should shorten it?”
Kikwang smiled in amusement. “Honestly? It looks okay. You look good...”
“Really?”, Dongwoon turned to him and smiled. “I only care of what you think, actually.”
It wiped the smile off his face in an instant. Kikwang swallowed nervously and looked down, trying to hide the blush. Half hoping that Himchan would come back soon and half hoping that Himchan wouldn’t come back at all, he started to feel his heartbeat quicken.
“I’m-I’m sorry,” Kikwang finally managed to utter. “I’m so sorry, Dongwoon-ah...”
Dongwoon took a deep sigh and he closed his laptop. “You know. It should be me who say that. I mean, no sane person would say ‘sleep with me’ with the person they just met. Just an insane person. I’m insane.”
Kikwang almost chuckled as he looked at the other male in the room.
“Insane for you.”
Kikwang coughed to his hand at how cheesy it sounded while Dongwoon scratched his head sheepishly and looked like in thought.
“Maybe I should make it right.”
He stood up from his seat and walked closer to Kikwang. Kikwang immediately glued his back to his seat as Dongwoon got closer and closer. His heart beats so fast as if it’s racing to the finish line.
“Lee Kikwang.”
Kikwang gazed into Dongwoon’s orbs and he felt like drowning. His lashes were long...his sharp nose...his cheekbones... God. This man succeeded to make him weak. He’s surely a male god...
“Will you go out with me?”
Kikwang’s lips spreaded widely into a smile.
End.
Himchan didn’t go back to the club for the rest of the day.
When Hyunseung was about to go in and he saw the KiWoon couple made out in a rather compromising position, he smiled smugly to himself.
“See? I knew the gay dvds would work.”
