[3] Kikwang packed his things hesitantly.
He sometimes glanced at Dongwoon, who seemed angry for reasons he didn’t know. Did something happen while he was sleeping? Kikwang sighed and folded his favourite shirt slowly and put it at the bottom of his trunk. His mind was full with things, confusion was one of them.
Go to Japan all of a sudden?
Kikwang sighed again, this time rather heavy and rubbed his temples. What are they going to do in Japan? Where are they going to live? Will they be able to adapt? Will they be able to speak Japanese? What if they miscommunicate and things go wrong? What if? What if?
There are too many “what ifs” in his head.
“Done yet?”, Dongwoon’s voice broke all of Kikwang’s thoughts.
Kikwang gulped and quickly shook his head, pretending to be busy with his clothes. Dongwoon noticed that Kikwang had only put a shirt and a pair of jeans to the trunk. “N-not yet...”
“We’re on the first flight tomorrow. You’d better make it done tonight.”
Kikwang couldn’t bring himself to ask what’s wrong. He mumbled a yes unconvincingly to himself.
There was a buzz on the door, followed by an impatient knocking. Dongwoon stared at the door with no interest before finally walking over to open it. Kikwang continued to pack-more like messing up with his pile of clothes.
“Dongwoon-ah!!”
The voice was familiar and Kikwang blinked. Who is it this time? He got up and slowly walked closer to the voice. It sounded like Dongwoon and whoever it is that just arrived had an argument. Kikwang looked and stopped on his track. Just the last person he wanted to see right now.
It was Mir.
“I don’t understand,” Mir said with his hands crossed on his chest. “I demand an explanation.”
“Nothing needs to be explained,” Dongwoon retorted. “Just go home, Mir.”
“I will not go home until I got an explanation,” Mir stubbornly replied.
Kikwang didn’t want to be in the conversation so he stepped back. But unfortunately, fate always hates him. Why did he have to knock over the table? Great. Now the two of them turned their heads to him. Kikwang was stunned and cursed inwardly for the pain on his feet.
“I’m sorry. I’m gonna go back to packing...”
Mir’s eyes widened. “Packing? Where are you going?”
“Stop it,” Dongwoon said.
“I will not stop it, Son Dongwoon!”, Mir looked angry and he stomped his feet on the floor. “I don’t understand why suddenly Mrs. Son called me, asking me to perform in front of the family, I mean, I get the fact that it’s a tradition every year. I know that every year I get a chance to play because I was your ex fiance. But now you have Kikwang!”
“We’re going somewhere.”
“Yes, but why? Where are you going and why isn’t Kikwang performing?”
Mir looked somewhere between confused and desperate of wanting to know the truth.
“Because...”, Kikwang spoke up softly. “She likes you, Mir...I mean, Chelyong-ah.”
“Mir is fine, please don’t be formal to me all of a sudden,” Mir’s eyes softened. “But... I’m sorry?”
“She likes you,” Kikwang repeated, even though his heart was hurt from saying it. “She told me you’re good at playing the piano and violin. I’m... I’m just not that talented. I can’t even play. I think...it’s a wise decision to have you perform. They... They love you.”
“She...?”
“Mrs. Son.”
Mir took a moment to glare at Dongwoon before turning back to Kikwang. “Forget what she said. Come on, Kikwang-ah, there must be something that you’re good at.”
“...cooking?”
“Can you dance?”
“Um...no...”
“Singing?”
“Not really...”
“Decided! You’re going to sing! And I’m going to play!”, Mir clasped his hands happily.
Dongwoon facepalmed. “What are you saying all of a sudden?”
“Cancel the flight, wherever it is that you’re going. Isn’t it obvious? We’re going on a duet!”
Kikwang looked shocked. “D-d-duet? I-i-in front of the f-family?”
“Yes. Any argument is invalid. I’ll come again tomorrow to practice with you. And you’d better not run away,” Mir said it casually but somehow, his words were deadly. “We’re gonna do great!”
Kikwang could only stared at Dongwoon for help. He felt doomed.
***
The next morning, Dongwoon left for work and Kikwang was left alone with Mir.
It may not be too late to change his mind about going to Japan, but Mir was being so smart that he decided to show up at their apartment in the early morning. Like as in really, early morning. Kikwang got no chance to escape. Dongwoon sighed in defeat and gave Mir the chance of whatever it is that he’s planning.
Kikwang glanced nervously at Mir who’s sitting on the chair, ready to play the piano. As expected from the Bang family, Mir was stylish. Judging from the shoes and the watch he’s wearing, they’re just something Kikwang couldn’t afford to buy. He looked so...rich. Kikwang tried to sit a bit far from him, feeling unconfident, but Mir gave him a puzzling look and gestured him to sit beside him.
Mir asked him about a song, and Kikwang nodded dumbly. Then the younger started to play, and Kikwang was feeling so nervous that he couldn’t even voiced out. Mir waited patiently before he started playing the piano again. Finally, after the fourth attempt, Kikwang was beginning to gain confidence and they both were synchronized-Mir with the play and Kikwang with the singing.
When they were done, Kikwang could feel blush creeping to his cheeks and he quickly covered his face with his hands. “I’m-I’m sorry!”
“What are you sorry about? That was awesome!”, Mir squealed and hugged him tightly. “Your voice is amazing!”
“N-no, I’m sure that it’s your playing...”
Mir groaned. “Stop it, Kikwang-ah. It’s your voice. Let’s start it again, okay?”
They had been practicing for a few days and day by day, Kikwang and Mir were getting closer. Mir, on the other hand, was so lovable. No wonder Mrs. Son loves him. He was cheerful, kind hearted, polite, sweet, easy to adapt with anyone new and gets along just fine, quite the opposite from Kikwang. Somehow, the older male feels grateful to Mir. He feels like having a friend and a younger brother.
Kikwang suddenly craved for a cup of coffee when he and Mir were window shopping one day. He told Mir that he’s gonna grab one and Mir should wait. Kikwang didn’t have the courage to offer Mir because the coffee he craved were his and Dongwoon’s favourites, he thought Mir would be disgusted to drink such cheap brand-he still couldn’t forgot the look Mrs. Son gave him. So Kikwang told him he’ll be back soon.
Mir was pouting. “I want coffee too!”
“Eh? B-but...the brand is...”
“What’s wrong with that? That’s my favourite too! It’s not too expensive and it tastes good.”
Kikwang stared at him in awe. Mir frowned and nudged him in the ribs. “A-ah, okay, so...shall we get in?”
They both ordered in the counter and decided to sit in the corner.
Mir downed his coffee as if he was drinking a glass of water and stopped as he realized Kikwang was staring. “This is really good,” he grinned and put his glass on the table. “I used to come here with Thunder. But now he’s got himself a boyfriend and he’s really good looking. That boy, always lucky. Everyone chases him but since he was really quiet, he ended up rejecting all of them-just because he had a huge crush on this playboy-who’s finally his boyfriend right now. Oh, and Thunder’s my cousin.”
Kikwang blinked at how many words Mir had said and at the familiarity of the name, but he chose not to talk it about right now. He nodded and sipped his drink.
“Hey,” Mir suddenly said with an impish grin. “He stares at you.”
“Who?”
“The guy. He’s not bad. His abs.”
Mir gestured silently with his chin at the said male behind Kikwang. Kikwang gulped and shook his head, refusing to look back.
“I’m not telling you to hit him! Just look back casually. He’s still staring at you.”
“B-but-“
“Kikwang-ah!”
Kikwang sighed in defeat and hesitantly looked over his shoulder, only to find his eyes locked with a handsome stranger. Mir was right-he was handsome, and his toned body showed that he’s been working out. The male smiled at him and Kikwang quickly averted his gaze back to his coffee.
“I think he likes you.”
“N-no way, I think he’s staring at you,” Kikwang said softly, still unable to take his gaze off of his coffee. “I’m not that good.”
“Kikwang-ah.”
“Y-yes?”
“You’re pretty.”
Kikwang stopped playing with his glass and blinked at the male in front of him. He didn’t know what to say.
“You’re really pretty. Didn’t you notice it? All eyes were on you when we were walking back there,” Mir smiled and tilted his head to a side. “You’re really attractive. You’re really-how should I say it, gorgeous.”
Kikwang pressed his lips into a thin line and shook his head. “Mir-ah... I’m not.”
“Trust me,” Mir held Kikwang’s hand all of a sudden. “You should be more confident. I guess... I guess it’s okay since Dongwoon chose you. You’re really beautiful. And I mean it. And I’m sure, the family will loves you.”
The latter put on a sad smile. “Not Mrs. Son though... I think she already hated me since the first time she saw me...”
“Do you honestly think it’s a problem?”
Kikwang frowned. “I-I guess I do...”
“Hmm... Kikwang-ah, have you heard of this? ‘Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength. While loving someone deeply gives you courage.’”
A head shake.
“Not at all? But you understand what it means, right?”
Kikwang thought for a moment before shrugging his shoulders. “I guess?”
If you understand what it means, then what’s the problem?
“You know,” Mir put his chin on his fist, leaning on the table. “Dongwoon. I’ve known him since we were little. And whenever he wants something, he’d think, he’d consider, he’d compare, he’d make sure that his choice isn’t wrong-and satisfying. Quite bizarre for a kid, right? But as we grow up, I realize that he makes the most outstanding decision. That’s why Mr. Son was really depending on him.”
Kikwang smiled at the mention of Dongwoon. “I guess he is...”
Mir stared at him blankly. “Do you get what I mean?”
You have Dongwoon, right? Then what is it that you’re afraid of?
Screw the others. Dongwoon is all that matters.
It’s your life you’re living, not theirs.
“You,” Mir continued. “Are what Dongwoon treasures the most, Kikwang-ah. He didn’t say it but I can see it,” he said meaningfully and grabbed Kikwang’s hand once again. “And that’s why...”
Kikwang could feel Mir squeezed his hand comfortingly.
“I’m gonna prove that you’re worth it.”
***
“I don’t feel like going,” Kikwang whispered and blinking his eyes groggily. “I wanna go home. Please. I’m gonna go find Woonie.”
“Don’t you dare!”, Mir hissed and put his hands on his hip. “We’ve practiced this a lot, right? We can do this.”
“B-b-but s-singing in front of a lot of people,” Kikwang stammered, pointing at the pool of people in the room.
“They’re your family, just imagine they’re naked with no clothes,” Mir rolled his eyes.
Kikwang wanted to puke at the sudden image. “C-can’t you find better things to say?”
“I bet you’ll end up having sex with Dongwoon after the performance.”
Kikwang was doing an OTL pose inwardly. “T-thank you, but that’s not...”
“Baby? Are you okay?”
Dongwoon came at the right time and instinctively Kikwang threw himself to Dongwoon’s arms. Finally, something to calm him down: his husband’s scent. “I’m scared, Woonie, I’m scared... I-I just wanna go home-”
“Hey, you’re gonna be okay. You’ve done this a lot at home, right?”, Dongwoon kissed Kikwang’s lips to stop him from trembling. “You’ll do great. I’ll be watching, okay? Or you don’t want me to watch? Should I go hide in my room?”
“N-no, please...watch,” Kikwang stared at Dongwoon worriedly.
“Then we’re still gonna play!”, Mir grinned excitedly. “Way to go, Kikwang-ah!”
“Wh-what? Th-that’s not-“, Kikwang tried to say but Mir was covering his ears, pretending not hearing anything. He sighed and stared at Dongwoon. “Woonie...please be there...I...I need you.”
“I will,” Dongwoon smiled and gave him another kiss on the forehead. “Good luck.”
“It’s time. Everyone is waiting!”, Narsha said excitedly. “Go deadly duo go!”
Mir made a peace sign to Narsha. He walked first and everyone in the room fell silent. Dongwoon’s living room was large, and Kikwang felt like running to the corner and hide. Mir smiled and everyone smiled back, it was obvious that the family loves him already. Kikwang took a deep breath and he walked closer to Mir, and he accidentally stared at Mrs. Son.
That look.
That accusing look. That I-don’t-think-you-could-do-it look. That disappointed look.
For a moment, Kikwang felt down and he almost turned around and walked away.
But then he saw Mir, who was smiling at him, and then his gaze met Dongwoon’s.
Son Dongwoon.
Dongwoon was staring at him fondly and he gave him a small nod. And then Dongwoon smiled soothingly, as if to give Kikwang courage. Kikwang’s lips slowly curved into a smile. I love you. He wanted to be worth it for Dongwoon. He didn’t need anyone. He just needs Dongwoon. I love you and you know that, right?
Then as Mir started playing the piano, he opened his mouth to sing.
I’m gonna make you love me, neol sarang handago. Nan niga isseo haengbokhae eonjena neoppun ingeol.
I’m gonna make you love me, I love you. I’m only happy when you are here, I always just need you.
Ajigeun mal mot haedo, neol bomyeon jakku tteollyeo do. Eonjena nan neol saenggak haneunde.
Even though I can’t say it right now, even when I keep getting nervous looking at you. I always think of you, you don’t know my love, I just need you.
Ireohke neowa na neunde, jakku neoman bo ineunde. Nae meori ssogen neoro gadeuk hae. Onjongil neomuna haengbokhae, neol wihan norael bulleo, eonjena do.
I want you like this, I just keep seeing you in my head, it’s filled with the thoughts of you. I’m so happy all day, I sing a song for you anytime.
Kikwang’s voice was so good, it stunned everyone in the room. Dongwoon found himself smiling proudly.
I’m gonna make you love me, neol sarang handago. Nan niga isseo haengbokhae eonjena neoppun ingeol.
I’m gonna make you love me, I love you. I’m only happy when you are here, I always just need you.
Because of you you you you, neo hanaman saenggakhae. You you you ijen, nal saranghae jwoyo, nal saranghae jwoyo, nal bara bwa jwoyo.
Because of you, I only think of you. You now, love me, love me, only look at me.
Narsha covered her mouth in awe and smiled at Gina who was standing beside her. Gina was on the verge of tears, staring at Kikwang. Even though they were just gotten close recently, but the chemistry was there. Kikwang’s voice was like hypnotizing everyone in the room and Mir sometimes glanced at him, his fingers played beautifully on the piano.
Even when he stopped singing and Mir stopped playing, the room was still silent.
It was Dongwoon who stood up and applauded for the two of them. Then Narsha followed, Gina, Dongha, and the others. Everyone was applauding for their little performance. Mir laughed happily and pulled Kikwang into an quick embrace. Gina was already crying to her handkerchief, she thought it was so beautiful.
Dongwoon walked closer and kissed Kikwang lovingly on the lips. Everyone was aww-ed and Kikwang blushed at the sudden gesture of his boyf-husband.
“You’re so beautiful,” Dongwoon whispered against Kikwang’s lips, who’s still blushing.
“It was marvelous! Chelyong-ah, as always, your play amazed me,” a beautiful woman flashed her smile at Mir. “But this time, it’s even better! Who’s that fine young man you’re dueting with?”
“He’s Dongwoon’s husband, Ga In-ssi,” Mir bowed politely. “His voice is good, right?”
“Very,” Ga In beamed at Mir. “This is wonderful! Can you play for my cousin’s birthday party next month? Please think about it, Chelyong-ah. Your duet partner can come, too. What’s his name? Ah, what’s your name, pretty one?”
Kikwang blinked at the said name and tried his best not to stutter. “Lee-I mean, Son Kikwang.”
“Kikwang-ssi! Wonderful! Ah, I bet you’re so proud of him, Auntie?”, Ga In beamed at Dongwoon’s mother. “He’s so pretty and his voice is good! You’re so lucky to have someone as your son in law!”
Ga In and her friends were giggling and Kikwang felt his heart almost stopped beating. Mrs. Son was giving him the look. But this time, it was different. It was... Kikwang didn’t know what it was. He was still flushed from the embarassment.
Dongwoon pulled him closer and wrapped an arm around Kikwang’s shoulder, as if to calm him down.
Mrs. Son was smiling. “Yes. I am proud of him.”
Kikwang’s eyes widened at the statement.
Mir smirked. His intention was fulfilled.
***
Dongwoon was kissing him hungrily.
It was addicting, and Kikwang tried to pull away as he needed air, but Dongwoon didn’t let go. Kikwang managed to pull away for a moment, gasping for air but soon his lips were claimed again. Dongwoon’s hand started to caress the sensitive skin beneath the shirt, slowly, lightly, teasingly, it was driving Kikwang crazy.
But Kikwang still had a bit sanity left.
“Y-your Mom,” he tried to push Dongwoon away, but his mind was telling him otherwise. “S-she-they could hear us.”
“I don’t care,” Dongwoon replied. “You turned me on so bad.”
I did?, was what Kikwang trying to say but he failed once again, because the taller male had pressed his lips against his.
Kikwang cried out when Dongwoon touched his southern part, but he soon remembered that they were in the Son’s house, and not in their apartment. He tried to keep it inside, but failed when his husband started kissing his thigh, to the lower part. Between scared of being find out and going crazy for the pleasure Dongwoon gave him, Kikwang let Dongwoon stripped him, until there was not a single cloth left.
The room was dimly lit by the only lamp on the nightstand, but Kikwang could feel he’s burning with lust and embarassment.
And that’s when Kikwang realized Dongwoon was staring. He was sprawled under Dongwoon, naked and Kikwang felt his cheeks were warming. He quickly covered his face with both of his hands.
Dongwoon pulled his hands out of the way. “Don’t cover it.”
“B-but I’m embarassed..."
“Why should you be? I’ve seen you from all angles,” Dongwoon kissed Kikwang’s fingers. “And you’re still beautiful.”
“But you’re still fully clothed.”
Dongwoon snickered and unbuttoned his own shirt. “And besides,” he said as he threw away his clothes and kissed Kikwang’s collarbone. “You’re mine. And I have the right to stare at you.”
Kikwang nodded shyly before letting Dongwoon kissed him again.
Is it hard to hold the feeling, wanting to cry out the name of someone you love the most?
For Kikwang, it is. He didn’t want to just moan and groan everytime Dongwoon thrusts into him. He wants to cry out Dongwoon’s name, and Dongwoon’s only. Kikwang’s fingernails dug to Dongwoon’s skin, marking him. He kissed Dongwoon’s sweats and threw his head back, drowning completely in the pleasure.
Is it hard to hold the feeling, wanting to listen your name being cried out by someone you love the most?
For Dongwoon, it is. He wants to hear Kikwang cried his name every single moment, he wants Kikwang to think about him completely and no one else. He’d whisper those words to Kikwang, telling him to say his name, cry his name, to admit that he belongs to Dongwoon only. Even after marriage, Son Dongwoon was still possessive.
They both completed each other.
Kikwang doesn’t care whether Dongwoon’s mother hates him or not, he doesn’t care whether she didn’t give them support-well, not anymore, because Dongwoon loves him-and it’s all that matters. As long as Dongwoon was there, he’ll be alright.
He suddenly remembered the words Mir had told him.
Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength. While loving someone deeply gives you courage.
Now, Kikwang understands it completely.
***
“W-we need more music!”, Gina said in half panic as she set the volume louder. “Music is good!”
“Do you need to use the toilet? The toilet over there is broken, you may use the other one at the end of the hall? Thank you,” Narsha smiled at Dongha’s cousin, preventing them from going to the direction of Dongwoon’s room.
“Really, those two, and the dinner’s not done yet?”, Gina mumbled, blushing madly as she sat beside Narsha tiredly.
“Lucky we noticed it, or else it’d be awkward right now...”
“Yeah, the way Kikwang moaned...was waaaay too loud...”
Narsha and Gina stared at each other before burst out laughing. They both felt happy and relieved. Thankfully everything was okay, and it seemed like Mrs. Son was starting to like Kikwang. Hopefully it’ll stay like that forever.
“Ugh! This is way too loud! Let’s stop the music, alright Noonas?”, Mir suddenly appeared, turned off the music and both Narsha and Gina went pale.
“Nooooo!”
