Hullo! I'm going to be away from LJ for most of August due to forseen circumstances. Namely, I'm going to be doing a crapload of travelling with mah homies (ie. my brothers and occasionally friends

Which day of Comiket are you trying for? I need to take time off work, and I haven't managed yet. My Japanese friend will go all three days so it's good for her, and I know a mangaka who'll be there, so I'm probably pretty good for any of those three days. But I am only going to try crowds like that ONCE. That's it.
Well, our plans aren't set in stone yet, but I know I'll be there all day on Saturday. I'll probably be there in the afternoon on Friday and in the morning/early afternoon on Sunday too. I bet Saturday will be the most crowded day. :p
Awesome! It sounds like you're going to so many places. It definitely sounds like you're going to be broke after this trip. So what are you going to be doing in Hong Kong (the only one of your list I've been to)? I don't have many suggestions since when I was there I did mostly family stuff, but would you consider seeing the Tian Tan Buddha? It's about a half-day trip and if you're interested in Buddhism or Chinese art/statues, it's cool to look at. There's also this great vegetarian lunch/dinner they offer with a $100HK admission fee. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tian_Tan_Buddha#Visiting_and_access
Hmm, and I can't really think of any other touristy type things at the moment. Unless you're interested in horse racing? Probably not.
Er, we kind of haven't decided on what we're doing in HK yet, despite it being the first place we're going to. I've been up to my ears trying to arrange all the hotels and crap in Japan that I haven't had much time to think about HK.
The Tian Tan Buddha seems pretty cool! I'd be interested in comparing it to the big Buddha in Nara. Thanks for the info! I'll pitch it to my brothers and see what they think.
Not really interested in horse racing (or gambling, for that matter)! I mainly just want to eat ridiculous amounts of dim sum and buy some fake Louis Vuitton bags.
