[Well, this is embarrassing.  Despite what a certain Falenan knight told a certain tactician at homecoming - no, Lyon never had any formal training in how to dance, and it is not at all like the footwork involved in swordplay.  She did manage to get a bit of dancing in with the Prince, but took a rather unfortunate spill a few songs in and twisted ( Read more... )

[ Don't think your injury goes unnoticed by her. She stares at her for a moment or two before clearing her throat a bit to alert her to her presence. ]

Ahem, if you don't mind, miss - may I have a look at your ankle? I know enough about sprains that I can recommend how to take care of it. And, shouldn't you have crutches with you?

[ ALL OF THE FUSSING - she has it. ]

Don't mention it.

[ When Diana gets Lyon seated, she goes to ask the nurse for a pair of crutches and an ice pack. When she gets those two things, she walks back over to Lyon and then elevates her foot on an adjacent chair to apply the ice pack to her ankle. ]

[While Diana is getting the crutches and ice pack, Lyon leans over and takes off her shoe and sock to see what the situation is with the swelling around her ankle. She hasn't really managed to injure herself any worse, but it's definitely not going down either with all the stubborn walking around she's been doing today. Stretching her leg out and flexing her toes a little, Lyon sighs.]

You're right. I should be taking it easier on myself.

Mm. I know you want to do everything at once, but you have to learn how to pace yourself. Your body won't appreciate it and it'll tell you by sending pain signals to your brain. Therefore, just go ahead and take it one step at a time.

Besides, using crutches and having your ankle like this is temporary. Don't make it permanent, all right?

That's true... it would be really bad if I hurt myself even worse acting reckless. I guess I was just in too much of a hurry for it to heal on its own.

Well, that's typical human behavior. Don't feel too bad about it, all right?

[And Lyon, now armed with a pair of crutches, heads back to her classroom with markedly less difficulty. At the door, she smiles again.]

All right, I should be okay from here.

[ Diana walks with an ice pack wrapped up in a few paper towels to keep it from being too cold to the touch and keeps up with her relatively easily. ]

Are you sure? I'm not doing anything right now and can make sure you get to your next class safely.
