Food Status

I'm still on "goal one" of my six changes for this year (likely truncated to five changes as I'm taking my sweet time) and I think I'm going in the right direction. Brad noted how much energy the "food math" was taking from me so asked me to stop recording. I like recording because I'm OCD, so it's a struggle! But I am in fact eating more meals ( Read more... )

Also I tended to start wanting more carbohydrates in a very open-ended, immoderate way if I ate more than about a teaspoon at a sitting, unless I accompanied it with fat and protein.

Yeah, that. My dessert choices have, as a consequence, got a lot fattier, but it makes portion control MUCH easier. Baked apples with whipped cream is tasty, but I don't want to keep eating, like I do with "just one more cookie."

It's been so long since I've really indulged in sweets that it was almost surprising the effect it had on me; I would eat some and want more, or start craving crackers! If I ate a piece of cheese instead, the cravings would calm back down. It's great reinforcement to keep my sweets in check, and "pad" them with fat and protein. Baked apples with whipped cream really does sound tasty, too.
