Oh, all the health crap started with slowly developing hip pain which was originally diagnosed as flexor tendonitis and possible torn labrum. It was only after the pain blew up (thanks to my herniated disc) that they did enough tests to reveal yes, a torn labrum, but also impingements in the right hip joint. Now that (knock wood) the back has settled down, the surgery will be to shave down the impingements and reattach the torn labrum.

Thanks on both counts - she is getting squeezed by work pressure, so I'm trying to pick up as much slack as possible at home to help out. My ability to do that will be temporarily compromised by the surgery though, so I'll be glad once we're through the next few weeks!
