What To Do?

I was driving home from work tonight and was stopped at a light three blocks from my home. To the right, two men were walking towards each other after getting out of their cars. One had called to the other in a friendly recognizing manner, and the other seemed to be glad to see the one. I watched them come together and shake hands ( Read more... )

Very hard to process that sort of thing -- it's such a shock.

Sounds like you tuned into the "do something" frequency which is more than most people do. I don't know how we survived before cell phones (in situations like this, car accidents, etc. -- not just to chat in the check-out line).

There used to be a program in CA called "Model Mugging" where they trained people how to "activate" during a violent unexpected attack...not martial arts -- hard to explain.

I took it years ago and it had a dramatic impact on me. "Freezing" is what most people do...very hard to know what is right because of all the variables happening.

teri_lee just made a post that I read today about something similiar. She made it protected, so to protect her privacy, I won't say too much. Although, she completely kicked ass in trying to defuse the incident. I was thinking of that while turning around too. It worked as a kind of inspiration.

It definitely caused a kind of freeze mode. Shock is a good word for it. It took a while for me to wake up (if I did at all).

It sounds to me like you did what you could do. You had to concentrate on driving your car until you could stop and turn around, which you did. (A squashed froggy is no use to anyone!) By that time you saw that the situation was being handled by others. So you went home. But you were ready to help if needed. :)

That sure was a bizarre thing to see, though. Wow!

I bet it was the result of road rage. That's the only time you see me beating up people on the sidewalk. Yep, just cut me off one more time buster, and POW!

Okay, I just mutter under my breath and try to ram them. But it sounded tough. ;)

I got the same opinion about people are behind me in the on ramp for the highway, but they speed up and pull next to me so I can't merge.

POW!

Okay. I'm all talk too.
