Found a winner

I decided that the gold taffeta is a fine color, but I was a little worried about it as a foundation layer. Not a very good choice for my fitted kirtle. I did some dye tests on a flesh-tone/beige wool flannel in my stash from Paris. The best was using the scarlet dye to get a deep pink. This color matched another beautiful silk in my stash.
