Lyon excursion

I went to Lyon, France for two days with a friend who grew up there. It is a wonderful city! We saw churches, renaissance buildings, the fine arts museum, the decorative arts museum, the food halls, the fabric museum, a silk-weaving museum, and ate typical Lyonnaise food - so rich! The bouchon (classic Lyonnaise restaurant with regional food) was ( Read more... )

Jealous -- that's one of my must-go-before-I-die museums! And that fabric is stunning -- plus, I love buying fabric that has some sort of attachment to it. And I hear you got to meet and hang w/ green_martha and heileen!

The fabric museum was on my bucket list too! I really am not supposed to be adding to my stash, but it did make an awesome souvenir - and such a bargain!

It was the only fabric shop I came across. But there is supposed to be another gift shop selling artisan silk items that I would like to check out if I get back there.
The museum was fantastic. It is connected to the decorative arts museum, so I got to see both on the same ticket. With the TGV, it was only about 2 hours from Paris! Some of the ladies made it a daytrip, but I had a hard time squeezing it in to 2 days!

The Musée des tissus is remarkeable :-) We've had an outing with Siméfil from Lausanne about 6 years ago, and had a chance to see a lot of their collection.

Another one what might interest you is the Musée des tissus imprimée in Mulhouse (68).

And yes, TGV is very neat. It would also be the connection to Lake Constance - TGV Paris-Zurich, then on with a Swiss Intercity train. ;-)

I have made a note of the Mulhouse museum for another trip. With TGV it is only 3 hours away!
I am hopeful about going to Switzerland - my husband should have news about his work very soon and then I can settle my plans for the spring. :)

I would love to meet you in person - and also Strasbourg, Colmar are worth a visit :-)
