Game Boy Nostalgia: Maybe a Series to Come

Recently I read a gaming blog where the author was playing Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins for the first time.  This brought back a lot of memories for me because it was the first video game I ever owned.  Well, technically it was collectively owned, since it was given to me and my brothers for Christmas [correction: it was only me and my ( Read more... )

Ah, Super Mario Land... that and its sequels are missing chunks from my collection that I would love to own, as my dad refused to let me have a Game Boy. So my collection wound up being quite small, and I've even done some regretful things as a result.

But, I digress. I love Super Mario Land for its differences, though such things made it a more difficult venture back in the day. And I certainly think a remake is in order. Plus, you forgot to mention that this game saw Mario rescuing a different Princess-- Daisy of Sarasaland made her debut here! She's no doubt that which holds the most lasting significance from the game.

When using Mario, I always felt the jumps seemed more like he had weights on his feet, especially if you stepped over a ledge.

As regards the R&D1 influence, I touched on a bit of their stylings in part 1 of my "15 Years of Wario" retrospective from last year, if you're interested. :)

I didn't forget about Daisy. I actually had an earlier version of the post that talked at length about the story and was overall, a bit more gushing ( ... )

I hear that, but getting devs from Nintendo to open up-- particularly Japanese ones that aren't big like Miyamoto-- seems difficult to do.

What in there made you change your mind about Waluigi? XD

Because while I had heard the reason for his name, I still felt it was kind of stupid. I hadn't know that Wario used the exact same reason, only his actually name actually works in English as well.

Also, I didn't know the Wrecking Crew connection.
