There is one bit in Rivers of London which I did notice at the time, and which has finally paid off - when they're hitting the Folly's libraries to research, and Peter mentions that he's looking in the English books while Nightingale's looking in the foreign languages - "and the other library I didn't know about then" (or similar quote). It's reassuring in its way, after so many mangaka doing the precise reverse, that Aaronovitch clearly has this all worked out ahead of time. OTOH the throwaway in vol 1 finally being fired in vol 5 almost makes me nervous. What else am I supposed to keep in mind? Molly's taste for raw beef? Nightingale's four brothers? The artist in the coach house?

What are your favorite party sandwiches? The only one I know of i cream cheese and cucumber, and I can never get the cucumber right. I'm glad you got out and were rewarded for acting like an extrovert!

Chicken salad, ham salad, salmon pinwheels with or without cream cheese, thin-sliced ham and cheese, cucumber and mayonnaise with a touch of dijon: anything that's on crustless bread and cut daintily, basically.
