I've gone through various academic-based obsessions during my youth, including the Blue Whale, dinosaurs, and.....I remember being SO obsessed with Egypt. Some of all that fervour remains still today.

Eh...? *lol* No. I just remembered being a pissed-off young feminist of an ancient-Egypt fan, that's all. :) It's about time those old stuffed shirts RECOGNIZED, yo.

(ewwwwwww, necrophelia. omg. you have no idea what minefield you just stepped on; I remember this short fiction story featuring necrophelia I had to read/study in a brilliant advanced grade 12 English class, it was written by a great female author, and I'm sure it was all avant-garde and whatever, and intellectual.......but I'm not THAT intellectual. my first and absolute LAST introduction to even the idea of necrophelia...I remember that only me and one of my bff's in the class were the only ones who were thoroughly disgusted. ewww. *lol*)

the italics are actually the title of the same story you mention. there is a poem by Frank O'hara by the same title.

yeah, it's gross - kind of like date rape. or sleeping beauty. except actually dead!

ancient egypt is fascinating: a civilization with highly elaborate death ritual. cool.
