I feel like I've been trudging through the pile of bad each month hoping to see a good decision one day and it just keeps making me angrier and more disappointed. :(
Admittedly, I've only read the first two trades, but does Piper ever get to successfully fight crime?
He got taking out pretty early on when trying to take on the Rogues in the second trade, and frankly, I prefer the more competent old-DC version of the character, because even if he was rat-obsessed and somewhat delusional, he was effective at what he was doing.
ugh. I just bought the first two Flash trades because the art is gorgeous and I really wanted to give the book a chance... but seriously, if they're going to make the Rogues as boring as Barry Allen, and then kill side characters for 'edginess', I can just keep my money.
The pretty art is not enough to get me through, especially when the last bit of the second trade suddenly had a slew of fill-in artists, only some of whom know how to draw well.
Hmm... I was kind of hoping for more for the Rogues, or heck, even some of the other side characters. And I'm really disappointed how neither trade is a complete story -- say what you want about Geoff Johns run, but he knew how to plot. Buccalleto and Manapul have gorgeous visuals, but the pacing for story arcs is really off.
I've heard from a dude who's clearly privy to spoilers that the Rogues will be appearing a lot more after the Reverse Flash storyline, and that possibly there's a new Rogue War coming. Which makes me roll my eyes, because Buccellato keeps saying they came up with a new Reverse Flash because they don't want to rehash old stories, and yet they continually rehash old stories. Just because they sometimes switch the occasional detail around (like swapping out Roscoe for Sam as the boyfriend-Len-doesn't-like-and-was-tragically-separated-from-her) doesn't mean they're new stories.
And there's a bit of irony in Manapul being so busy with writing/plotting that he doesn't have time to do the one good thing about the book.

The only nU Rogue I can actually connect to this moment is Marco, if only because they fleshed out his life story for us to see.
