I'm pretty sure there is nothing "Medieval" about this skirt:

Yeah--I can't quite figure out what about it is supposed to be medieval--the color? The sequins? But they had tons of other sequined skirts and outfits, some in silver, which one would think would make more sense if it were a chain mail thing, and the weren't 'medieval.'

The length definitely isn't medieval. That skirt would have qualified as a proper hat in the late Middle Ages O__o

Forkbeard totally sounds like a pirate villain. Or a really silly goat elder name.

Maybe it doubles as a shield?

Fork beard.

The skirt, or the beard? ^_~

LOVE THAT PICTURE. I kind of liked the idea of a medusa-like prehensile beard, each tendril wielding plastic forks.

Also, Forkbeard's father? BLUETOOTH.

I wanna see both! Beard shield and not-at-all-medieval miniskirt shield. On the same person. Yes.

Forkbeard and Bluetooth?! Why hasn't this been used somewhere somehow? So we can buy a Forkbeard to go with our Bluetooth.

Yep, apparently Bluetooth is a Norwegian inventin, and it was actually named after Forkbeard's father (he was a Norwegian king, and, I think, the grandfather or great-grandfather of Cnut).

This is why it's awesome to have friends who do the early Scandinavian and Anglo-Saxon stuff-- they know all kinds of cool tidbits.

The forkbeard attachment--soon to enhance your bluetooth-enabled device ^_^v

Trade you my thesis-wring duties for your talk attendance? *jealous*

Nice--though I also have writing to do, too ^^; Right now, though, I'm still in the reading and taking down notes phase.

How goes the thesis?

The talk was in a really fun weird format--6 minutes, 20 slides, 20 seconds per slide, and the slides were on a timer, so she had to keep up. Fascinating, though I could see how its use would be limited to certain kinds of presentations and information--I can't imagine giving a literature talk like that. But maybe I should imagine harder.

Is it the blue? Perhaps the fabric is dyed with woad?

M-maybe?
the 'Medieval' sheer shirt with a tiny bit of embroidery that was also called "Medieval" but never shown as part of an outfit with the "medieval" skirt was also blue, and that seemed to be the only thing the two had in common.

But what about blue says medieval? I guess woad, but not to most people.

*is very confused*

Woad would be medieval, and it does seem to be close in colour to this

Also that blue is quite a dark blue, so maybe midnight blue was probably 'so last year' so maybe medieval was more you know romantic. ( also midnight, knight, knights equal medieval ... or somesuch)

Yes oxygen deprivation again. Friday night left to train and i hope to train in the morning on saturday and maybe do a bit on saturday night and getting a good night's sleep (ahahaha). Me and my sis have a run slot of 7:30 am ... that means I have to be up at 5:30 or something.

*DIES*

Oh goodness, so it's really upon you, isn't it? Good luck! how long is the projected run/climb? and is it up and down, or only up?

That is rather close to the color of the skirt, and midnight blue does seem to be played out--it's just that blue in the middle ages . . . I think of the Virgin MAry (inappropriate for that skirt, to be sure) and then also courtly love, where blue is associated with fidelity.

Woad works, but really? Were they thinking about woad when they picked out that skirt? Somehow woad and clubbing don't gel in my brain. But alas, that may say more about me ^^;

It looks kind of like chain mail??

Yeah, I got that, too, but . . . they had silver and pewter sequined skirts that weren't 'medieval,' and you'd think if it was about the chain mail . . .
