Shukudai 118, in which serious eating is accomplished--some of it by Arashi

Oct 10, 2010 13:35

Arashi often seem to have a somewhat complicated relationship to food: They clearly love to eat, yet many of their televised food encounters verge on the horrifying--attempts to present the most stinky, most spicy, most bitter, or, perhaps most frighteningly, the most ancient of foods to be eaten publicly for the entertainment/trauma of all ( Read more... )

food/arashi, picspammage, arashi, clearly i need more sleep, crackdom, arashi no shukudai-kun

I think the highlight of this episode for me was Jun teasing Sho with the uni spoon, and then stealing his pasta &hearts

Fall is slow in coming to Virginia, as I've quickly found out. The calendar says October, but it may as well still be August... Apparently they do stuff differently across the Mason-Dixon line ^^;;

So true! When you get down where we are, fall is . . . slightly cooler--sometimes it gets down to 75! ^^; But when one walks 5 miles a day, that's a godsend ^^; At night, it gets cooler, though, which is nice.

But I was in Massachusetts last week, and they actually had fall color, which made me happy ^_^

I did love the Jun/Sho interaction in this episode, though really Jun/Aiba and JunToshi were also adorable, and the AiMiya was also rampant. Pretty much a win episode all around ^_^

But really, the teasing with the camera angle cracked me up. I could just see Sho hoping that maybe Jun would have pity on him if he was cooperative, but no such luck. Then, Jun giving the next one to Aiba because he'd already had some . . . poor Sho ^^;

XD;

Oh, 118. Any episode which results in violent outbursts AND overeating is golden in my book.

*must re-watch now*

It's finally starting to feel like Fall around here. Today's high is supposed to be in the low 60's and it's overcast and drizzly, thus making it perfect weather in my book (if only my allergies would cooperate by going away >8| ). We've been experiencing the explosion of faux-autumnal decor for a few weeks now, which I can live with. However the sight of Christmas decorations in the grocery store today admittedly made me both tear up a little and want to throw a tantrum.

Oh! And because I suck at remembering these things on-time: HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY!! \8D/ I hope you can celebrate it by doing something fun over your fall break.

Hee! I rewatched this one with the Boy today, too. And then I watched all three of the Tunnels episodes because I'm like that ^^;

Ooooooh, real fall. Sadly, it's getting almost to 90 here tomorrow :P Stupid Texas. Though I'm glad I checked or I would have been fooled by the cooler weather today:P Upper 80s and humid all week :P

I SAW XMAS STUFF HERE IN AUGUST >_< What in the hell, TX?? I know your seasonal awareness must be impaired by the weather, but seriously, a calendar?

And thank you! Sadly, I'll be working 11 hours that day, but the Boy has promised to cook for me and we're dragging the inflatable mattress to the living room and having an anime and/or Arashi slumber party. Because that's totally what married people in their early 30s do for a birthday. We may also tempura some strawberry shortcake a la AnS 23, because it's delicious, but you kind of need an excuse for that kind of ridiculousness. Wednesday will be rough at work, but it will be worth it ^_^ At least I don't teach on Wednesdays ^^;

ohhh, aiba doesn`t like cheese?
*writes down another point where aiba and herself are scarily similar*

though i don`t have scary stories as to why i don`t like cheese - it`s a boring "ate cheese everyday in high school, and simply got sick of it" - case )=

i think I have also seen this girl on a Korean show where she was out-eating several Super Junior members. She obviously rocks. \m/

Fall started really early here in Holland, but now the weather kind of changed back to summer even though the leaves have turned colour and are falling, so you get things like people brushing brown leaves off of their t-shirts while complaining it`s hot XD

Aiba claims not to like cheese in this episode, though in the fondue eps and some other eps with cheesy foods, he seems to like it ok, so I wonder if it's this cheese in particular, or if melted cheese is fine, but solid cheese isn't ( ... )

I`m generally ok with melted cheese on, for example, pasta, but solid cheese, ugh. Though I`m not that fond of cheese fondue either, but of an overkill, that one. I also do generally like what we call "French cheese", brie, blue cheeses, stuff like that, but again, not too much at once, tiny tiny bits at a time I can handle ( ... )

Oh that's right! I think you'd told me you were a Christmas Eve baby before ^^;

Texas . . . it's a big state, around the size of France, but it's generally warm. We're pretty far south though, so it's really warm quite often.

6 weeks of snow would incapacitate everything here ^^; In northern Illinois, where I grew up, the snow would mean that it was relatively mild, since it was warm enough to snow ^^; Driving would still be a pain.

And ofcourse, the first time that winter I fell with my bike was when almost all snow was gone and I missed the tiny bit remaining in a corner XDDD

EXACTLY. This would happen to me, too ^^;

i just want you to know that i always love these posts, even though i have no idea what to say after reading them because i am either in stitches laughing or contemplating how there is nothing left to say after you have been through an episode.

BUT i can answer your question! yes, tan tan men is the same thing as dan dan mian. :D the kanji is the same and yeah, the pronunciation is WAY too similar not to be.

Hey you!

*flails*

You are terribly sweet! This episode was lots of fun, but the pictures got ridiculous, so I had to cut losses ^^; You know what drove me nuts, though? My raw files! I've gotten so spoiled with the beautiful raws we have now and I had a subbed version which clearly had been made with a better raw than the one I have and ^^; Oh well.

And thank you! I saw the name and thought it sounded way to close not to be the same, but then . . . wasn't sure ^^l

How are things going, btw?

oh man i can only imagine! i've been watching all the new stuff that gets subbed and even the subbed versions are out of this world amazing quality! then you go back and watch early AnS and it just makes you thankful for what we have now.

i am also going to compliment you again by saying: i read your post about foucault and fandom behavior and i really liked it :D you taught me something new and related it to something i understand! no wonder you're a teacher ;)

things are going well! had an amazing holiday week last week (national holiday golden week in china, w00t!) and have to get back to being at work now. boo. but at least i've got a couple of things to DO, now. luckily they give me enough room for writing still ;) and in the lull of arashi shows i have taken up an obsession with inception. good movie, AWESOME fandom. :D

yourself?

I'm so glad you liked that post ^_^ It's a kind of weird one, but I actually love "Panopticism," and at the time, what with random stuff going on in fandom, it seemed so appropriate ^^; My poor students, though ^^; They are not a huge fan of Foucault, as he's notoriously painful to read at times, and sometimes the translations available exacerbate that ( ... )
