EXTREME FOOD ARASHI: Forget the 5 second rule. And your sanity. You're watching Arashi.

Oct 10, 2009 11:11

Sometimes, I really think that the staff on Arashi shows sit around tables trying to figure out how to maneuver a very tricky path: how does one come up with food challenges so terrible that the perpetually underfed members will all back away in horror-all, that is, except for Ohno ( Read more... )

I still have more D no Arashi episodes to download and watch to see Ohno's legendary taste buds at work so this pic spam helped in identifying those food related episodes.

I think the fans who send food submissions recognize the special relationship Arashi has with food so they help the staff by sending the most unique of the bunch.^_^

\0/ for surviving your two weeks. I'm going to help your procrastination by suggesting a hairstyle-themed post or another food related post. And top ten episodes of their shows is nice too.

Btw, I really like your "instructions for the care and maintenance of shiny rainbow boyband idols" icons. How many are they?

These 5 episodes are all pretty awesome . . . (the two cotton candy ones, the two hottoki episodes, and the abandoned amusement park episode, which, if you haven't watched, you really should. It's quite ridiculously awesome ^_^

There are 7 or 8 episodes of the hottoki variety I think though I obviously enjoy the food bits the most . . . The different 'leave it alone' versions are pretty funny--and Ohno eats all sorts of horrid things set in gelatin . . . I think that's actually in D no Arashi 76 (the one with the crab and curry)--they make miso gelatin *__* I bet you can guess how Ohno feels about it ^^" Though there are a couple of other really truly horrifying gelatin concoctions as well >_<

You know I meant to comment on your last post but my computer died and I gave up on it... Oh well.

Note to self: eating pizza while reading these picspams is probably not the best idea, so stop doing it.

I love the episode where Jun so helpfully points out that need to eat your food with gloves is a bad idea. It amuses the shit out of me. He makes amazing faces that episode, and the guest is one of the few girl guests that cracks me up.

Also I pity Ogura-san for doing what he does on Shukudai-kun. The boys laughed at him when he admitted he smelled his food first. Oh boys <3

Top ten posts. YOu should do one for each member, like top ten sho!fail moments, top ten OH!Ohno moments, top ten bastard!nino moments (i mean it with love of course since he's my favorite), top ten prissy!Jun moments, and top ten miracleboy!Aiba.

Also these picspams always end up leading me to taijiproject to download their corresponding episodes. SO thank you for filling my days with laguhter.

You know, I really love that icon every time I see it. I also want it for registration of classes--though my definition of 'stupid' in that case has more to do with attitude and less with skills or 'smarts.' ^^"

*laughs*

Somehow, while putting it together . . . I managed not to have breakfast until 1pm . . . food and EXTREME FOOD sometimes don't go well together . . . and while food + Arashi is glorious, Food + Arashi + laptop . . . sometimes is a dangerous combination ^^"

But I'm glad you enjoyed the post ^_^ But . . . dead computer *__* I hope it turned out ok . . . I do not at all handle dead computer moments well. Huddled mass of misery is probably the accurate way to describe that ^^"

1pm, that's around when I got lunch/ breakfast too. Yeah Arashi + food+ laptop probably equals bad things. I try to make sure I'm not watching anything Arashi related when i eat or drink for fear of what might happen.

The computer turned out fine. The fan in it died so I've been using an external one, but apparently that day the fan wasn't turned on or something so it died and it took me like half an hour to figure out why. I felt so retarded afterwards. But other than that it was as simple as pressing a button and turning it on.

I tend to find their pimping the young actress to him funny just because I always feel as if he's like a grandpa, and has more bark than bite. SO it's like their teasing him in my mind.

I like the way your mind works. suave!Sho I would pay money for that (okay maybe not until I get a new job. Apparently there are no clerical positions in Texas.) If you do that then i know someone i need to spam and spazz at about that.

This is totally random, but I didn't realize you were located in TX . . . I'm in San Antonio . . . about 5+ hours south of you, I suspect ^^" (did you know that there's at least one Japanese bookstore in Dallas?) And I am yet again cursing TX mosquitos :P They are vicious and evil and prolific, especially now that we've actually had some rain. I am currently treating fresh air as if it's radioactive >_<

It took me shamefully long to figure out that drinking anything while watching Arashi stuff or checking my LJ comments, for that matter, was a very bad idea . . . probably because as I was just getting into Arashi, I had terrible internet connectivity, so most of my serious fangirling was done at a coffeeshop with really good wireless^^" So hot beverage + Arashi seems to be somewhat hardwired into my brain ^^"

and has more bark than bite. This is true . . . though the Boy and I are constantly a little appalled by Ogura's . . . fairly flippant and overt comments that suggest he's had more than one fling in the past, perhaps ( ... )

Okay, I’m pretty sure that there are many foods that come to resemble curry when they go bad. Especially the canned kind of curry, which is sort of non-descriptly gloppy. I think just about anything left for twenty years could easily ferment itself into non-descript gloppiness and have a certain spicy aroma. That doesn't mean it's really curry, Ohno! Arrrgh!

Seriously. Are you going to believe anything these two guys tell you?

But they’re wearing lab coats! What’s not to believe?

Because this is Arashi, and in Arashi-land, costume provides credibility. I think also of Ohno's 'director' costume when he choreographed the G no Arashi concert openings -- also 'artist' Ohno with the beret. Actually, other than the A no Arashi labcoats, do they ever dress up anyone but Ohno in credibility-costumes? I'm not thinking of any... But also, why is he so damned cute in that stupid wig?

Also, happy birthday! I should call you, but I imagine you are being sociable and going out for meals and stuffs.

Okay, I’m pretty sure that there are many foods that come to resemble curry when they go bad.

Exactly! And seriously, that can does not look like it's in great condition, and in this case, Ohno just goes for the whole spoonful, rather than the more tactically sound sliver of most of the other things *__* I can't even imagine how foul that must have tasted >_<

Because this is Arashi, and in Arashi-land, costume provides credibility. The only other examples I can think of was the Bangohan costumes, which seem to fall into that category ( ... )

Meh. I'm aware that today is/was Saturday, but apparently not what the date is. Thought earlier about making you a birthday post, but I am hugely uninspired and tired. If you want anything particular, let me know and I'll see if I can come up with anything.

I think Ohno was lulled into a false sense of security by the recognizable 'curry' smell. But clearly he paid for that.

Raclette, definitely. Then you can tell me all about it.

Yo, there's a job in some TX town south of SA whose name I have already forgotten. Since they're thin on the ground this year, I'll apply and pretend that I could live in TX if there were lots of visiting...

You know, the Boy once did that . . . in the other direction ^^" I spent the whole day kind of looking at him, wondering . . . "So . . . you're being awfully nice, etc., but are you going to say it? And then around 5 pm, after an entire day with him I just asked if he realized, and no. ^^" That was when he was still at the studio, though, so I think I was probably lucky he remembered my name with the amount of sleep he was getting ^^"

Hmm . . . I'll have to think about it . . . you could always drag out the cow post or the fingerless glove homage ^_^ If you wanted to ^_~

I'm worried that the Raclette wil just be referring to the cheese, but I want to try it anyway ^^ I think we'll have to dress up though . . . I'll go pants, since the rabid mosquitos managed to deposit 29 bites below the calves *__* So I have literally coated ankles and below with Benadryl, but it's really hard to sleep with persistent foot itch >_< I know that was exciting and you needed to hear it not at all, but it's really distracting.

I think Ohno ( ... )

Thanks for helping me with my my daily laughing exercise^^

I love the comment about Aiba and colored goldfish. I could totally see it...he's so easily amused XD

Maybe they're just fans of Ohno's 'Holy crap! I'm still alive *__*" look.
That's probably the cutest Oh-chan look I've seen in a long time.... Although, this is Oh-chan we're talking about...the one who had me us laughing at simply his facial expressions in Uta no Oniisan. Which reminds me how dark he's become...his face looks so white in those pictures...

Ohno's thought process: "But that means we get to eat every single week!" ♥
Exactly. That's why he still has a job. The pull of food is strong.... Otherwise he'd be unemployed!!! He said it in La Tormenta. Which makes me wonder if each member wrote their individual parts, or the other members wrote it about them ( ... )

I think that's one of the things that is so enjoyable about Aiba--he seems to take a lot of enjoyment from really little things ^_^ I know the Boy used to be somewhat annoyed by the energy level, but now just laughs along.

That's probably the cutest Oh-chan look I've seen in a long time
There's something about how limpid his deer-eyes are in this moment. It's really cute ^^" It probably doesn't hurt that he's looking directly at the camera, either ^^" But I know what you mean about how pale he looks here in contrast to now. They keep making comments about it and yet, with a few momentary lighter moments I suspect are largely due to makeup switches . . . he seems to be burnished for the meantime ^^" I wonder if that will change over the winter . . .

Which makes me wonder if each member wrote their individual parts, or the other members wrote it about them...Me too! Some of the things seem less likely to have been put together by the member in question, but Ohno's kind of sounds plausibly written in part by him ( ... )

PROFESSOR, MY LJ TELLS ME YOUR BIRTHDAY IS SOON.

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO TAKE MY GRE FOR ME? WE CAN ARRANGE IT.

Ha! I teach the writing/vocab sections of the stupid GRE class too :P But in the summer . . . you want I should post you my notes and powerpoint on MF? For what it's worth? When do you have to take the stupid thing?

Kitten pictures of Mistress Bonnie Quruli Ohno would be awesome ^_^ (seriously, people were having trouble with Quruli? Laaaaame). But then, you're talking to a member of a household which seems to have inflicted 'Darth Nibbles' on our foundling, though we don't actually call her that (to her face). It's mostly to appall/amuse those who ask, depending on demographic and sense of humor . . . in reality, we tend to call her 'the Gremlin," which she seems to like.

You know what the best present was? Midterm on my team-taught class, so no teaching for me \o/ I still have to go in for office hours and student conferences, but no prep--which means free weekend I should be using to write but instead am using for fangirling ^^"
