Bring the shiny! And the sparkles. Then bring more. Picwar.

Picwar! T-the 23rd?

You can find attacks 1-22 here.

So in her last installment, Locky went for the insidious awful that seems mostly ok and then you realize you are in a sartorial Otherworld where foofy hair, dime-store children's sunglasses and hair bows meet up with Western fringe styling to bring together the worst of the 70s and 80s:

Hi,

Loved all your picwar! I checked all the entries in one go and would agree on all choices (especially the marching band with feathers and the monstrosity that is the green-gold-rainbow ruffles found in the TIME concert). Though I have only seen 3 concert DVDs so far (Iza Now, Final Time and AAA 2008 in Tokyo), I just realized that my tolerance level for anything sparkly and shiny has greatly increased. But I still want to how JE costume designers come up with costume ideas.

I'm so excited you enjoyed the picwar! *flails* Locky and I have decided to wrap it up in a few more entries (33), but may revive it when JE assaults us again, as it is wont to do ^^

I just pimped AAA Dome hard in response to your other comment, but allow me to reiterate--I cannot imagine a better use of 2+ hours on a lazy Sunday ^^ If you do watch it you're highly encouraged to stop by and squee over it&hearts I love that concert beyond all reason ^^

I had even thought of a reason why the costumes must be sparkly or at least reflect light. They want the fans seated at the top of the arenas to distinguish the five from the countless of lights and people that are scattered across the venue. I remember that for AAA 2008, Sho wanted his yellow pants to reflect more light like Aiba's.

But I'm also interested on the costumes that you actually like so I'm looking forward to the end of the picwar as well ^_^

Sure, and this is the reason often cited for the use of traditional colors--it makes sense--what's funny here is that while you can distinguish Arashi from everyone else, it might still be difficult at a distance to distinguish them from each other ^^"

The flipside of this is the incredible attention to tiny details in many costumes that would be difficult to see even on the big screens ^^" The purple buttons on the red velvet suits, etc. I love these touches to pieces and yet wonder at the amount of attention lavished on something so hard to see even up close. And sometimes the train wrecks that so clearly had so much thought and love put in them for such terribly awful and hilarious results ^^" I love it all&hearts

I remember that for AAA 2008, Sho wanted his yellow pants to reflect more light like Aiba's.I know ^^ I loved that bit. You know what I loved even more? the custom chartreuse and rhinestone Nikes&hearts When I first saw the concert, I was totally flabbergasted by them, and then I saw the behind the scenes and ( ... )

I like Aiba's Hello, Goodbye costume. It works on him. His shoes were similar to the ones Becky wanted as a prize for VS Arashi, right? (I even saw someone at the mall wearing those rainbow colored Nikes and I had the urge to ask her where she bought them)

And this is what happens when we see enough JE clothing ^^" We start to like all sorts of improbable outfits ^^" Though the day I feel the need for a spangly tracksuit, I'm sending Jun an irate letter ^_~ Also, not adding any sequined or rhinestoned feathers to my clothes any time soon ^^"

I kind of think Aiba's Hello, Goodbye costume would only work on him ^^" Those little furry balls! The clashing multiple patterns. Those shoes.

He's completely squishable in it, no doubt, but . . . I do wonder where the hell they find those things. ^^"

Thanks to Arashi, all sorts of rainbow things get instant approval from me. I am actively looking for rainbow-colored sheep plushies . . .

*goes to ebay*

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has been totally traumatized at how bendy Aiba's legs are there. He's always particularly springy in concerts, but something about the way his knees . . . . don't look like they exist and instead he has Gumby limbs in this set completely wigged me out--as much as anything having to do with Aiba can wig me out ^^:

I'm happy you enjoyed it ^^

LOL, you know, I still laugh at his horribly rubber-like bent legs every time I think about your cap... we all know that he can jump, run fast and probably kick as high as 160 degrees but without bones?! XDD it just adds on to the list of facts on why I would love the boy so much. He’s a freaky gem.

I’m going to show this pic to more friends and let them know how blessed we are. ; ))

DO IT ^_^

Those legs need to be witnessed to believe ^^" I say spread the trauma. There are so many many reasons to love that boy ^^

Um, hi.

I've kind of been lurking for a few days and laughing myself stupid (and murdering inoccent brain cells) while following your pic war. It's so entertaining!

On that note, I had some thoughts on the last two pictures:

[on the penultimate pic] Even Nino's Uchiwa regards JE costumes with distain....

[on the final pic] ...And from that moment on, Ohno worked hard to become like an inanimate object.

HI! I'm so glad you're enjoying the picwar ^^ Locky and I are kind of in the last legs, but we've been having lots of fun and it's always great to hear that someone else is enjoying it with us ^_^ I tend to lurk lots, too, so I'm there with you ^^;

And I love the comments ^_^ Ohno really does look a bit like a mannequin there, doesn't he? And Nino, in image or real form, in some ways strikes me as the most likely to have lots of fun repping up the costumes, literally and figuratively--Jun's too involved in the planning, and his horror would be more despairing, I think, but Nino--I would pay to hear some of Nino's commentary on that plant costume from Dream a Live ^^

Welcome! Feel free to drop by and chat (or lurk, if you prefer) anytime ^_^

I imagine it will not be long before JE costume staff are found murdered. Probably with no clues to be found but for a lone playing card left at the scene(a la Moau). Nino, being so inoccent and above repproach, will obviously escape all suspitsion. He will even mourn them properly, wiping his tears on his giant yellow hanky/cape.

If it doesn't offend you too much, I think I'll make myself comfortable around here. I find your observations amusing; they mirror my own. Thusly, I shall leave lurker-dom and introduce myself properly: My name is Ami, I am not normal; it's over-rated.

It's nice to meet you. ^_^

Hee! I wonder how they keep Wardrobe/Costume deaths down in JE.

My theory is that every time members dispose of one, Management hires one whose taste is so atrocious that it acts as both a punishment and a warning . . . and hopefully a deterrent.

Thus, we have longer stretches between truly unbearable costumes, but occasional masterpieces when the new help is hired ^^

And it's very nice to meet you ^^ Enjoy your stay ^^
