Hmm...I've had some delicious meals over the last few days. :) Thursday evening, I skipped out on rapper practice, and instead I went to PPR for my friend Katy's cooking. During my senior year, she cooked almost every week; it was wonderful to share a home-cooked meal with her, Ben, Ian, Nick, Dan...people I could talk to forever. None of those friends were there this time, but it was pleasant to see Katy again, at least. (I also saw Ian's girlfriend, and I met a Joanna who does circus things!) She made an eggplant-potato-tomato curry and a delicious chocolate cake, with icing I'm fairly sure she mixed with vanilla liqueur. Since she was leaving campus for a few days the next morning, she also bought tupperware and sent us all home with lots of leftovers. The yum continues.
Last night, after Sam helped his daughter and me with our bike brakes, I made an Indian-spiced rice&lentil dish for the R Clan. Could've been a little more strongly spiced, but the cumin and ginger were tasty. So was the garlic roasted with the organic local kale that I'd bought on Friday from the fair food stand at Reading Terminal.
chlomar introduced me to kale a couple months ago, and it's delicious! Then...then I discovered that, while I thought I loved chocolate, I had no idea what the word 'chocoholic' truly meant. I heard about bins of chocolate and 11-lb chocolate blocks and trips to Belgium while enjoying plates of fruit slices, lady fingers and marshmallows, and an incredibly rich and amazing chocolate fondue. Oh gosh. So good. So stuffed afterwards. I was ready to burst!
That's not even elaborating on the dinner at Sang Kee with my mother and brother Friday night (honestly, the fried tofu could've been firmer and most of the food was unremarkable to me -- I should stick with their eel soup -- but the green beans were as crispy and good as ever), or breakfast this morning with my mom before work (the chocolate chip and banana pancakes at Marathon were fine and satisfied my craving for pancakes, but they needed way more chocolate chips).
