Food. Lots and lots of it.

Hmm...I've had some delicious meals over the last few days. :) Thursday evening, I skipped out on rapper practice, and instead I went to PPR for my friend Katy's cooking. During my senior year, she cooked almost every week; it was wonderful to share a home-cooked meal with her, Ben, Ian, Nick, Dan...people I could talk to forever. None of those ( Read more... )

Glancing at this post, I read "PRR" instead of "PPR." Then I saw the context.

Not completely unrelatedly, T was telling me that she remembered taking trains around Philadelphia when there were still two rail companies. I'd never realized that the direction trains take through center city is based on whether they were Reading or Septa trains before the combination! (I'd always assumed it was vaguely related to the direction they were going.)

Yeah, I think I remember Tanya mentioning a figure somewhere in the vicinity of 35 pounds for the total amount of chocolate in the house a while back.

I'm going to stop reading your posts when it's close to dinner time from now on.

There's a really popular and ridiculously simple recipe that was really popular among my Haverford friends for a while when we would live in the apartments over the summers and had a group dinner cooking/eating arangement. It involves kale, feta cheese, olive oil and optional garlic. Basically boil down the kale with a little olive oil, later add the kale, cover and let steam for a bit. Throw in garlic when and if you want to. It was very simple and very tasty. And the look on the face of the person working the cash register at the grocery store when they saw a bunch of college kids buying bags and bags and bags of kale (hey, there were a lot of us and it boils down) was priceless. :)

Hmm, that sounds good! I'll have to try it the next time I buy kale; I've been in the mood for some cheese, anyway. ;) Thanks!

And yeah -- I bought two bunches of kale, and 5 people easily devoured that much. It's satisfying to feel like you ate a lot of leafy greens, but it is a little cumbersome until it all boils down.
