Re the challenge eight entries: I think you might be right. For example, when entry #12 in challenge seven ended with Arthur verbally stomping on poor Merlin's heart, it caused me physical pain. I can't even re-read that one, it hurt so much. But then again, we all went into challenge eight expecting to be destroyed in some way or another. After all, it's not dark if everyone is happy. So maybe it's a bit of both - saturation and lack of shock value ( ... )

God, I know what you mean about #12 from ch. 7. I was like... No, you can't end it like that! Arrrghh. Even so, there were a few entries from ch. 8 that threw me for a loop. I'm kind of indifferent to dark!fic on most days, so I don't actively seek it out. Having so much in one place is a little overwhelming to my delicate sensibilities. :p

You make a good point - I don't have any triggers or squicks that I know of so I don't really notice the lack of warnings for fics that could otherwise use them. I guess when taken relatively mine wasn't as bad as it could've been and some other entries have been (much as I enjoyed them for that element of surprise); it just occurred to me that I might've made a pretty big gaffe, so of course my perspective went to a paranoid and irrational place. >.> And I think you're right - the concern cropped up right after the warnings issue was broached in challenge 8, because normally I probably would've remained completely oblivious. So, yeah. :D

Thx my dear, I'm glad I'm back too. ^^

I was struck by the fact that in challenge 8, pretty much every fic had a warning, even if I didn't necessarily think they needed them. Obviously, none of the other challenges had entries with warnings on them, and there were a few that could probably really have used them. But I'm kind of glad for the lack of warnings (in a selfish way), because it really makes your reading of the entries blind and more meaningful. In the non-selfish way, I'm REALLY hoping none of the people who've gone over the entries have had triggers.

About the darkfic challenge, I think it was a lot more limiting. You had to come up with an original way to make the same impact as everyone else, whereas other challenges let you make any impact you wanted, just with a similar device or prompt. So this time we all went in expecting it, desensitized, and surrounded by it. Yah.

Regarding yours from last challenge, I didn't quite read it as dubcon. I could see where you'd think it, but it didn't strike me that way. Probably because you didn't write any of Arthur's ( ... )

I think warnings were specifically asked for for challenge eight, weren't they? Anyhow, perhaps we should have been keeping an eye on the possibility of triggers from the very start.

whoops, reply fail D:

They were asked for, and I totes get that. But it was weird seeing warnings on some stuff that I wouldn't have thought twice about, after things from other challenges. That's what I meant. And yeah, maybe we should have considered that some triggery stuff could happen and put up some sort of... idk, general warning. As it is, I just hope anyone who'd suffered for the lack of warnings would have mentioned it to us. :s

Agreed. And yeah, there were warnings for things that had appeared in previous challenges. I guess everyone just figured 'better safe than sorry'. Hell, my own warning was probably partially superfluous.

Yeah, I think I came into this challenge expecting to be terrified half to death, so while the reality is pretty scary (in a good way) compared to my usual standards, I did work myself up quite a bit for the darkness. XD

I KNOW, IT'S ALMOST EMBARRASSING.

ISN'T IT AMAZING? I DON'T EVEN LIKE THAT SONG, BUT I CAN'T STOP WATCHING THE VIDEO.

Oh, yay, I'm so glad you managed to have fun! :D Ahahaha, sneaky videos of you going around - if you find it, you'll show us, right? ;o)

Re: your entry: well, first off, guh, that was hot. I loved it. Genderbender does nothing for me, and that's the only entry where one of them was actually a woman I thought was hot, so yeah. :D I did read it as consensual, but yeah, I'd warn for the fact that people who get triggered by dubcon my find this triggery, even if it isn't (... which might possibly be the most convoluted warning ever, ahaha). I wouldn't worry about not warning inside the challenge - I think we all assume things to be a bit kinkier on there, anyway, and it's not technically even dubcon, so. I actually posted an entry and forgot to warn for non-con, in one of the challenges. It was only implied, so hopefully not triggery, but still. I only realised four days after it went up that in my haste to post it before the deadline, I'd forgotten to add the warning. Believe me when I say I majorly facepalmed. D:Oh, God, challenge 8!
