I see dead people

Over the past, hm, *checks timestamps* two weeks, I've been watching seasons one through three of CSI. As a procrastination tool, that so totally beats cleaning the bathroom. The downside is that between that and moving furniture and sitting on the balcony with Jung, I've got a bad case of the looming deadlines. eep ( Read more... )

Maybe ranting is a young fan's game.

I'd tend to think so, but I think it's also the indulgence of many a Bitter Old Fan. *g*

Also, randomly: I love your icon! So cool. I don't usually like many animated icons, but yours is soothing somehow.

Isn't it nice? One of linbot's, and yeah, I'm not really into animated icons, either, but I do so love the GW ones I have from her.

Maybe there are different paths of development. I'm not a bitter old fan, I'm an apathetic old fan. *snrk*

Uhm. Hi. I was first drawn to your writing online back when you were posting X Files and if I’m ever in a re-reading mood in that fandom your work ranks in the top 3 of writers I’d re-visit. I’ve always thought of you as a gifted writer. I think you should leave things the way they are and maybe add a link explaining that you’ve amended your opinion on this or that topic. Oh and I feel especially lucky that you’re one of the many talented writers writing SGA.

*pink* Thank you so much. And yay, another SGA fan! And yes, keeping the essays and adding a disclaimer seems to be the vote of the people, or at least all you sensible people who are commenting here; it's sounding good to me.

I concur with the (so far) majority opinion to leave them as they are and maybe add a disclaimer. And this part of your post could be part of said disclaimer:

rewriting that stuff from my current perspective would probably make everything wishy-washy enough that no one would be able to find my point, should I manage to have one.

Hee! Good point. *makes note of suggestion*

Oh, leave the rants up! And you don't have to disclaim, either; part of the fun of the Internet is finding people's old rants, especially long after they've changed their minds and are doing exactly what they swore they never would (not that you're doing that. but it's especially fun for those of us who came into fandom through RPS -- it's fun to see people who swore it was the devil writing or reading RPS now, and since I came in the evil way, I've got no old rants to hide.)

Oh, you don't know how close I came to having an RPS rant! In fact, that was what started the whole thing. I sketched one out, discussed it with some friends, decided it was a bad idea to go all meta about something I'd never read, began to check out the stories, did some more discussing, did a whole lot of thinking, and changed my mind. Still have the outline somewhere, though. :)

Speaking of RPS, I would never had thought I could be susceptible to brother-cest...then along came NUMB3RS!

I had a deep and meaningful relationship with some of your rants back in the day. I say leave them up.

*grins* Okay, that's a very good argument.
